Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker Got Married, Proving Friendship Is a Stepping Stone for Love

From friends to lovers, to finally husband and wife. The story of Kourtney Kardashian, the eldest of the Kardashian clan, and musician Travis Barker, is one that doesn’t start with love, but definitely ends happily ever after. Friends for years, it took both of them some failed marriages and relationships to see each other in a new light. And now, they are letting this light of theirs shine.

1. Friends for 15 years before dating

Travis and Kourtney were friends for 15 years before they started dating, after having been introduced to each other by Kim Kardashian. At the time, Travis was dating Paris Hilton, whom Kim was friends with and worked for.

Travis encouraged Kim to start her family’s reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which changed the family’s fortunes for good.

2. Dating rumors began in 2018 but they denied it.

In 2008, Travis split with his wife Shanna Moakler, although he was married previously as well. Later, in 2015, Kourtney Kardashian also split from Scott Disick, the father of her three children.

Despite the early split, the first rumors of something brewing between them started only in 2018, after they were spotted together on more than one occasion. Travis’ daughter, Alabama, also shared a pic of her with Kourtney and Penelope, Kourtney’s daughter.

3. They became a couple only in 2021.

Travis Barker also denied dating Kourtney Kardashian in 2019, saying, “Kourtney’s like a dear friend. That’s it. I mean, I love her to death. I love her family to death. But yeah, just friends.”

All that changed in 2021, when the couple went Instagram official in February 2021. Since then, their fans have been treated to a barrage of lovey-dovey pictures and declarations of love for each other.

4. Kourtney’s family, children, and ex-husband have accepted Travis as part of her life.

Scott Disick may not be a fan of Travis Barker, but he’s okay, allegedly, with the relationship. Meanwhile, the Kardashian-Jenner clan is a Barker fan, and Kourtney’s kids, Mason, Penelope, and Reign have also been spotted hanging out with him.

5. Travis Barker’s kids are already calling Kourtney “mom.”

Barker, meanwhile, is the father of Alabama and Landon with Shanna Moakler and stepdad to her eldest daughter with Oscar De La Hoya, Atiana. Alabama has posted Kourtney Kardashian’s pictures many times, and her friendship with Penelope also ensured more proximity between Travis Barker and Kourtney. Alabama also posted an Instagram story wishing her “stepmom” Kourtney, a happy 42nd birthday.

6. They want to add to their brood.

Kourtney and Travis want more children, adding to the six children they have between them. In the new show, The Kardashians, Kourtney admitted to her mom, Kris Jenner, that she and Travis had been trying to get pregnant and went via the IVF journey for it.

She described it as “Awful. The medication that they’ve been giving me, they put me into menopause.” She also added, “Travis and I want to have a baby, and so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF, and it hasn’t been the most amazing experience.”

7. They had a Vegas wedding before actually getting married.

Before they actually got married, legally, Kourtney and Travis Barker went the romantic route and got married in Vegas, which she dubbed a “practice run.”

She posted the pics on Instagram later, writing, “Once upon a time in a land far, far away (Las Vegas) at 2 a.m., after an epic night, a queen and her handsome king ventured out to the only open chapel with an Elvis and got married (with no license). Practice makes perfect.”

8. Travis Barker & Kourtney Kardashian are crazy about each other.

Finally, the King and Queen are married for real, in a courtroom, where Kourtney made a rather different appearance in a stunning white mini dress. The accompanying captions, on both their Instagram posts, are as fairy tale as they can get: “till death do us part.”
