Michael Jackson’s Son “Blanket” Debuts New Nickname in Search of New Identity

Michael Jackson’s youngest child, Prince Michael Jackson II, known widely as “Blanket” for many years, made a significant personal decision to change his nickname after more than a decade. Born in 2002 via surrogate, Prince Michael Jackson II earned the nickname “Blanket” due to his father’s habit of covering him with a blanket to shield his identity and maintain privacy.

This nickname followed him throughout his early life, but by 2015, he chose to rebrand himself as "Bigi" Jackson. The decision marked a new chapter in his life, reflecting his desire to move away from the legacy of his childhood nickname.

Although Bigi is the son of one of the most iconic figures in music history, he has shown little interest in following in his father's musical footsteps. Instead, he has emerged as an advocate for environmental causes, particularly focusing on the pressing issue of climate change. In a 2021 interview, Bigi spoke about his commitment to addressing climate change and the importance of raising awareness about this global challenge.

Yes Indeed he does look exactly like his father. I grew up in the Jackson 5 and my last name is Jackson and I remember that my mother had me and my sister singing so that we were going to be the Jackson Girls 🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅

I though maybe Rug would be appropriate because of his long hair. Nice to know that he is trying to do something good with his life. I'm sure Micheal would be proud.

I can't blame him from wanting to sound growing up as well but he needs to be very careful. Natalie Cole did this dedicated to go and she turned into a drug addict. I don't know whether the drugs were to blame or her name was to blame but she tried to run from her past and it nearly killed her so blanket if you can read this please please be careful about your name.

The comment has been disarmed.

I doubt he's Michael's real son anyway so he can't be the new MJ. Some guy came forward and claimed to be the real father years ago. Michael liked boys anyway.

This comment is too shy. It's hiding.

Crazy people really believe this kid is his son...lol! MJ bought a family to make himself appear normal but folks are gonna believe whatever they want

Can't find the comment? Ask your mom.

I can understand why Michael didn't use his own sperms to have these kids they look nothing like him.

You can't hide three things: the Sun, the Moon and the truth. But you sure can hide a comment.

He didn't need to adopt the first two since he was married to Debbie Rowe. He's the father on the birth certificate not the father biologically. Very weird to explain.

This comment got punished.

That's not Michael's son .It may be because Mike claimed him but this kid has NO African DNA in his entire system.

How do You know? I have seen biracial children that look like they have no African features All the time. And then there are biracial children who look black mulatto.

MJ said Blanket's mother is Black, so he is not biracial. I also believe those kids are not biologicially MJ's children.

Paris does not look anything like Latoya or Janet. None of MJ's kids look like the Jacksons. Those kids are not biologically Jacksons.

I've always thought that about all 3 kids although they do look very similar to one another. He is possibly just father but obviously we know he used a surrogate to carry all 3. My ex was mixed ( like tan tannish-red tone skin in summer time). Our son came out white with dark hair like MJ's 3 kids. The only time he looks biracial is during summer when he gets tan. I guess we will never know unless they choose to take DNA tests. Until then who cares. He helped make them one way or another, raised them, & gave them a good life. Let them be whomever they're meant to be.

None of those kids are MJs biological kids. The Jacksons have very strong genes. NONE of those kids have the slightest resemblance to the Jackson family. Michael had an obsession with white skin. I NEVER bought the vitiligo bullchit either. Not enough to transform into a white woman. He wasn't very masculine OR manly at all. And, I say that as a Michael Jackson fan. The TRUTH is what it is. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This comment is in the X-files.

If we were all stuck back in the 1950s that reasoning will float. But biracial has come a long way baby, the white person you're dating could well be black.

Or a mutt like nearly everybody alive, in the west anyway. I didn't notice anyone saying he doesn't look black. I saw a lot of folks stating he doesn't bare a physical resemblance to his dad. Personally, I have no clue. Kids/parents aren't my thing unless it's just blatant.... like some kid is polka-dotted.

You ARE aware that "African" is a continental denomination and NOT a determinant of shade, right? There are LOTS of Afrikaners that will look like a tomato after 5 minutes in the sun. Don't be a stereotype.

Apparently you know nothing about biracial children or their families..this is my nephew his wife and son..my nephew has a black father and my sister is his mother..she's white..he married his wife in this Pic and this is their son...he looks whiter than Michael's son! You're not making any sense when you say that! This is a child of a biracial man who married a very fair skinned white girl! Look! He's black...you'd never know!

He has changed his baby nickname, ‘Blanket,” now “Bigi.” I understand that, I would do the same. He is 22 years old now. He did not change his birth name.✨🙂

No comment? Pass the wine, please.

I can understand why he chose a nickname that has nothing to do with anyone but himself and yes, naturally he probably is proud of his birth name but you can't blame him for changing from blanket, etc. Handsome young man.

During the interview, Bigi expressed his admiration for the history and creativity that surrounded his father’s work, while also emphasizing the need to contribute positively to the world. He stated, “That’s what each of us want to do, make some things that people hopefully enjoy but also that benefit their lives.” His passion for climate activism reflects a deep concern for the environment and a sense of responsibility toward future generations.

After the death of Michael Jackson in 2009, Bigi, along with his siblings Prince Michael Jackson I and Paris Jackson, was raised by their grandmother, Katherine Jackson. Today, Bigi lives independently in a mansion in California.

Public reaction to Bigi's name change and his dedication to climate activism has been overwhelmingly supportive. Many have praised him for his resilience in coping with the loss of his father and for his commitment to making a difference in the world. Supporters have expressed their admiration for his choice to focus on climate change and have wished him well in his endeavors.

Despite his famous lineage, Bigi has openly admitted that he does not possess his father's talent for singing or dancing. Instead, he is channeling his energy into raising awareness about environmental issues, and encouraging others to take action to combat climate change.

As Bigi Jackson continues to carve out his own path, he remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the world, all while stepping out from the shadow of his father’s legacy.
