Being a parent is awesome! But those of us who have children know for a fact that it isn’t always easy. It takes a lot of time and effort to ensure that your kids grow up well-mannered, properly educated, and generally well adapted to life.

We at Bright Side decided to look into the most common child behavior problems that bother many parents — problems that should not be ignored!

Keeping quiet about someone’s bad deeds

Solution: You have to explain to your child the difference between being a blabbermouth and being vigilant and conscientious. Also, you need to calmly listen to your child and refrain from judging. After that, you should help them understand the situation so that the two of you can find a solution to the problem together.

Sibling rivalry

Solution: Find the root of the problem, and be sure to forbid your kids from inflicting physical pain on each other. Help your children feel like a real team, and teach them to resolve conflicts fairly. Explain to them the importance of respecting each other’s feelings. Try to regularly spend time with each of your little ones — this will help to maintain cordial relations within the family.

Theft

Solution: Maintaining the right attitude is very important. Keep calm. If your child has stolen something for the first time, find out the motives and explain that to do so is utterly wrong. Then ask your child to return (or pay for) the thing and apologize to its owner. If thefts continue to occur repeatedly, seek professional psychological help. Otherwise, this type of behavior might turn into a persistent habit.

Disrespectful attitude toward others

Solution: Find out what is causing this behavior. Teach your children the right way to express their emotions and desires. They must learn to remain calm and to listen. If your child keeps behaving insolently, take away the privileges that he or she enjoys.

Dishonesty

Solution: Don’t give in to irritation. Explain to your child the importance of honesty and trust in relationships. Take time to think of an appropriate punishment which will teach your child that lying is unacceptable. If dishonesty becomes the norm, this can be a sign of more serious problems. In such a case, you’ll need to contact a specialist.

Whining

Solution: Try to keep a dispassionate expression. Remind your child that he or she should speak in a normal voice. If this behavior becomes permanent, you’ve got to figure out what’s wrong with the relationships between your nearest and dearest. You may have to discuss the situation with the child to make him or her more conscious of being part of the family.

What other behaviors do you believe are dangerous and should be shown more attention when they happen?
