Just my humble opinion but I'm not holding hands with anyone while I'm on a toilet doing my business.
Using Separate Bathrooms With Your Spouse Is the Key to a Blissful Marriage, Scientists Claim

“We have 2 toilets installed in our apartment and we hold hands when we pee,” revealed singer Meghan Trainor in an interview. And since then, a wave of comments and opinions about separate bathrooms for spouses flooded the Internet. We decided to look not only for practical examples of using separate bathrooms and toilets by married couples, but also for a scientific opinion about how it can affect a relationship. And you’ll be surprised to find out what researchers have to say about the topic.
Having 2 bathrooms at home may be a game-changer for spouses.
Michael Caine, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Joan Collins — all of these celebrities have one thing in common. They all agree that having 2 separate bathrooms results in one long-lasting, happy marriage.
A licensed marriage and family therapist, Laura Petiford, commented on the benefits of having separate bathrooms, sharing, “2 bathrooms — and the admission of a preference for them — is, in part, a declaration of a ’highly egalitarian marriage.’ It can be a reflection that at least in this aspect of life, there’s equality.”
Plus, it can be a romance saver.
“The bathroom is a space where we attend to highly intimate aspects of ourselves, and a high-risk environment to reveal habits of cleanliness, which can be contentious for couples,” says Petiford. “On a superficial level, having 2 bathrooms might allow for maintaining a higher level of romance, keeping a degree of mystery.”
For some people, separate bathrooms are the key to a calm relationship.
Among the problems that a separate bathroom may solve are things like replacing the toilet paper roll or decorating the interior according to one’s own taste. People admit that it’s nice not having to see how their spouse may not change the toilet paper roll, leave their hair everywhere, or have a colorful shower curtain that clashes with their desired aesthetic.
Fogging up the bathroom and commandeering all the storage space, irritating your spouse greatly, are now gone. Partners who have separate areas admit that they don’t have petty arguments over a messy toothpaste cap, and they can finally relax while doing their business in their own toilet without any frustrating emotions.
Meghan Trainor has side-by-side toilets and swears by the positive effects of this approach.
Meghan Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabara, have a very close and unusual relationship. The singer has revealed she has a very special solution in her family home: his and hers toilets in the same bathroom.
Trainor explained that she likes to have her husband “blocking the door.” She also explained their toilet schedules are so synced up that they decided to have 2 toilets installed side by side in their bathroom. It also helps with sharing care for their little son.
“We just got a new house, and we did construction — nobody knows this — but in our bathroom, there was one toilet,” she said. “A lot of times in the middle of the night when we’re with the baby, we gotta pee at the same time. So I was like, ’Can we please have 2 toilets next to each other?’”
She pointed out the benefits of such a solution for family bonding. The singer says, “It’s the best part. We hold hands, we pee. He sits while he pees, which he’s mad that I told the world that too. It’s easy, he’s tired, he’s a dad.”
