What 13 Stars of “The Hunger Games” Look Like 10 Years After Its Premiere
In 2012, The Hunger Games hit the big screen to delight us with the first installment of Katniss Everdeen’s adventures. The world that surrounds her captivated our spirits, and her story made all of us passionate about the meaning of freedom. And although it may be hard to believe, it has been 10 years since the film first premiered.
Bright Side wants to show you how the characters of this film look now and how much they have changed since then.
1. Jennifer Lawrence — Katniss Everdeen
The star of The Hunger Games continues to succeed in show business. Among her latest works are Don’t Look Up, where she plays Kate Dibiasky, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix as Raven or Mystique. In 2021, she confirmed her first pregnancy with her husband, Cooke Maroney.
2. Liam Hemsworth — Gale Hawthorne
He is one of the undisputed stars of the film. This year we’ll see the release of his latest work, a film directed by Russell Crowe, Poker Face. Among his latest projects, he plays the character of Dodge Tynes in the TV series, Most Dangerous Game, and in the movie Arkansas, he plays Kyle.
3. Lenny Kravitz — Cinna
Lenny Kravitz dazzled us with his music and acting chops, too. His performance as Cinna was endearing, as well as other appearances he has had on screen, such as in CNBC’s Trailblazers, in which he was a guest star.
4. Woody Harrelson — Haymitch Abernathy
Woody Harrelson is an established actor and can be seen in many, many hits, from the TV series, True Detective, to Larry Flint. In 2022, he will release 2 films and a series, while among his latest performances, we can see him in the role of Cletus Kasady/Carnage in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, or in the sitcom, The Freak Brothers.
5. Wes Bentley — Seneca Crane
His most popular roles were in The Hunger Games and his performance as Ricky Fitts in the famous 1999 film, American Beauty. More recently, he gave a voice to Niander Wallace Jr., a character in the series, Blade Runner: Black Lotus. He was also seen in Yellowstone, a series that has been airing since 2018, as Jamie Dutton.
6. Amandla Stenberg — Rue
Rue was a character that touched our hearts. After her performance in The Hunger Games, Amandla Stenberg stood out in films such as The Hate U Give, as Starr Carter, and The Darkest Minds, as Ruby Daly. In 2022, her latest work was released, Bodies Bodies Bodies, where she appears alongside actor Pete Davidson.
7. Elizabeth Banks — Effie Trinket
Elizabeth Banks played Effie, a character that’s charming but, at the same time, very peculiar. The actress appeared in Modern Family, where she played Sal (Mitchell and Cameron’s friend). She also played Boz in 2019’s Charlie’s Angels, and her most recent work was as Joy in the movie, Call Jane.
8. Willow Shields — Primrose Everdeen
The Hunger Games launched the actress to fame. After the movies, she appeared in series such as Spinning Out as Serena Baker or The Disturbance, where she played the role of Maya. But for us, she will always be Katniss’s cute little sister.
9. Isabelle Fuhrman — Clove
Beyond her ruthless role in The Hunger Games, Isabelle Fuhrman has made a name for herself in the film world, having played Esther in the horror film, The Orphan, a character she will reprise in Orphan: First Kill. She can also be seen in the film, The Novice, as Alex Dall.
10. Alexander Ludwig — Cato
Alexander Ludwig achieved much success with the TV series he starred in after The Hunger Games. In Vikings, he can be seen as Bjorn Lothbrok or Bjorn Ragnarson. He also worked on The Survivor as Shane Patton and alongside Will Smith in Bad boys for Life as Dorn.
11. Stanley Tucci — Caesar Flickerman
Stanley Tucci needs no introduction. He has won us over in many films, from Julie and Julia to The Devil Wears Prada. Today, he continues to impress us with his acting skills in new films and TV series. But not only that, the 61-year-old actor has just overcome cancer after a hard battle.
12. Donald Sutherland — President Snow
This super-popular actor delighted everyone in The Hunger Games while playing the evil President Snow. This was a very different face to the one he showed in Pride and Prejudice, where he played a very understanding Mr. Bennet. Among his latest works are the TV series, Swimming with Sharks, and the movie, Moonfall.
13. Josh Hutcherson — Peeta Mellark
Josh Hutcherson played a character that, without a doubt, conquered the audience slowly but steadily with every new installment of The Hunger Games. He is recognized for his acting chops and, as a result, he knew how to make a place for himself in the film industry. Soon, he will be starring in a thriller, 57 Seconds, alongside none other than Morgan Freeman.
