10 Irrational Things Movie Characters Did That Made Us Yell at the Screen

Working on a film is a long and difficult process that can take several years. Writers, directors, cinematographers, and other people involved in the process pay attention to all the little details, trying to give viewers something fascinating. But despite all this attention, some mistakes are impossible to avoid, and the most attentive movie viewers still notice them.

Evelyn Abbott, A Quiet Place

The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world with monsters that want to find anything alive and kill it. The monsters are blind, and the only way they can detect a person is by sound.

But despite the danger, Emily Blunt’s character gets pregnant and has a baby. Of course, it puts the entire family in danger because you can’t, as a baby, stay quiet and not cry.

Bella Swan, Twilight

The Twilight series, which tells the love story of an ordinary girl, Bella, and a vampire, Edward, has a lot of fans of varying ages. But despite the popularity of these movies, the franchise is often criticized for plot holes and bad acting. And some of the characters’ decisions are, in fact, quite weird.

But the strangest thing is probably Bella’s behavior when Edward told her he was the world’s most dangerous predator, made for one thing. Against her better judgment, Bella doesn’t get scared or run away in a panic. Instead, she says that it doesn’t matter to her.

Rachel, The Ring

The Hollywood horror film, The Ring, is a remake of the Japanese original. There’s a tape that, when watched, leads to dire consequences. This is why it’s hard to talk about the character’s silly decisions because it’s what the plot is based on. But they are still strange.

It’s hard to believe that people will find a tape with fatal stories on it and then just watch it. And Rachel leaves the tape around where a child has access to it.

Jay and Paul, It Follows

The 2014 film, It Follows, tells the story of a creature that follows people to harm them. It follows the people that had a close connection to the previous victim.

This creature doesn’t have a physical body and can look like anyone. But a group of students that it follows decides to kill it in an unusual way — by luring it into a pool and throwing an electric appliance into the water. It seems that this is the most illogical scene — how can you harm something that has no body? And the creators seem to agree: the creature didn’t disappear.

Mike Williams, The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project is a pseudo-documentary about 2 guys and a girl that want to shoot a project based on a local legend about a witch. This is why they go to the forest with all the gear they need and try to follow a certain route on a map. But a little while later, they realize that they’re lost.

If you’ve watched the film, you know that even with a map, they couldn’t have gotten out of the forest. But Mike didn’t know that. So why did he throw the map away if it could help him find a way out? Of course, maybe he was desperate, but does losing the only thing that can help make the situation better?

Dewey Riley, Scream (2022)

The fifth installment of the franchise was released in 2022. The film is about the events that happen 25 years after the story in the original Scream. Again, there’s a mysterious person in a mask hunting down teenagers. And, of course, all the main character of the series decides to find out what’s going on.

Dewey becomes the victim of the new stranger. But his end looks really strange: instead of dealing with the bad guy from a distance, Dewey comes very close to him and allows him to attack him with a knife.

Peter Parker, Spider-Man: No Way Home

The synopsis of the most recent Spider-Man film is this: the entire world knows who Spider-Man is, which is why Peter has to deal with a lot of public attention, and everyone thinks it’s his fault that Mysterio died. There are formal charges against him, but he still looks like a bad guy in the public eye. This is why he and his friends can’t enter college.

To fix the situation, Peter asks Steven Strange to make it so that everyone forgets who Spider-Man is. But “everyone” means that his friends and family also forget him, and he asks Steven to cast a spell, which leads to a lot of problems. All these problems could have been avoided if Peter had contacted the management of the university, but he never even tried.

Amy Dunne, Gone Girl

Amy Dunne is one of the smartest, most dangerous characters that’s ready to cross the line to achieve her goal. Everything she does is thought-out, and almost everything works out. She manages to convince everyone that she is not just gone, but probably dead, and it’s her husband’s fault.

But while the entire country is looking for her, and the story is on national TV, she lives in a camp and doesn’t even change her appearance. Of course, she’s found, and the people make her give them all of her money because she can’t call the police. Then we are left wondering why someone who could come up with such a genius plan does something this silly.

Micah, Paranormal Activity

The 2009 thriller is another pseudo-documentary. The film tells the story of the young spouses, Micah and Katie, that move into a new house. At some point, they realize that something strange is going on, and Micah sets up cameras in all the rooms to understand what it is. When they find out it’s a demon, Katie wants to hire a specialist, but her husband refuses and tries to talk to the entity.

Of course, in real life, we know there is nothing paranormal, but it’s a movie. So why does Micah, knowing they are in danger, not try to fix it, but instead, do everything to make it worse?

Mark, Midsommar

Midsommar is one of the most anxiety-inducing thrillers of recent years that tells the story of a group of students that go to Sweden to take part in an annual celebration of the middle of summer. When they are far from civilization, they realize that they are not in a simple summer festival, but rather, among the followers of a really strange cult.

Even though their friends disappear, and they see something really unpleasant, one of the students, Mark, acts in a very silly way: he defiles a sacred tree and then goes into the forest to follow a girl and never comes back again.
