I used to love summer before I had a baby because it meant vacation time. I could relax at the sea, camp in the forests, or explore ancient cities. My husband and I didn’t need much comfort, and we could plan a trip spontaneously 2 hours before the train left. But after having a baby, we learned that vacations are not so simple. Especially with a family.
You’re walking along the riverbank. It’s quiet save for the water’s peaceful burbling. The hot Georgia sun beats down on your neck. That’s when you notice something strange on the ground. Looks like a quarter-sized black coin with a weird pattern on it. You bend over for a closer look.Is it a coin? This thing looks like an ancient seal with a symbol carved in it. It’s probably from some long-lost civilization! You could sell it and make a fortune!!!You crouch down on one knee to pick up your newfound treasure. As soon as your finger touches it, you pull your hand back as fear wells in your gut. It’s hairy.
The air is bone dry, and the wind is out of control. You feel like you’re standing in front of a fireplace. But you’re not, you’re standing in your backyard about to grill up a feast when you suddenly see the trees shaking uncontrollably. Leaves are falling like confetti. The wind just blew your last piece of laundry into the great unknown. You look around and everyone else is just as confused and scared as you are. In the distance, you see a red horizon of fire in the forest and a large vortex touching the sky. You drop everything and make a break for it. You’ll be lucky to outrun a tornado, they usually move at around 30 mph [(50 kph)] but can reach up to 70 [mph (110 kph)].
Ahhh, the beauty of nature all around you, the fresh air, and days and days of meditative rest far away from civilization ahead of you. But you’ve been walking for quite some time to get this far, and now it’s time to set up camp.
Drums, bass, drums, bass. Strutting down the street, headphones in... trying to play it cool. On the inside though, you’re scared out of your mind. 5 minutes ago, you realized your headphones are stuck inside your ears. It’s no joke, you try to pull them out, but they won’t budge. The music isn’t helping either.
An old man stands in the bathroom peering into the mirror. His pupils are getting wider, his hair is standing on end, and his jaw drops in horror. No, he’s not afraid of his reflection. He’s just remembered the scariest day of his life. It’s been thirty years, and he still can’t look at mirrors without fear. The old man closes his eyes, the panic goes away... and the memories come.
Uh-oh, they’re here. You grab your things and head out to the jeeps that will take you to the evacuation center in the underground settlement. Your dog follows you, not knowing what’s going on. You’re outside, and you can see the giants miles away walking toward you. There are so many of them, each as tall as the Statue of Liberty. But the leader is slightly taller than the Empire State Building. Each giant has a unique face similar to a human’s. But they’re always showing their teeth and popping their eyes open.
You wake up with your head feeling heavy. Ummm... 1, where’s your comfy bed? And 2, why were you just sleeping on the wet and dirty ground in the middle of nowhere. Wait, what’s all this stuff around you? Are you in... the Jungle?
The Sun is rising, lighting up the trees, swamps, and massive plants of the Yucatán Peninsula. It’s 66 million years before today — and the last days of the Mesozoic era. This peaceful world doesn’t know yet that a rock the size of a mountain is hurtling toward Earth at a speed of more than 40,000 mph. It looks like a fireball. It’s growing larger and larger with every passing minute. Soon, it seems bigger than the Sun. Dinosaurs roaming the prehistoric Earth don’t know yet that they have to run, hide, save themselves! Not that it’s going to help.
Elephants are highly intelligent and emotionally complex animals that hold a special place in many cultures. They are a major draw for tourism, providing funding for conservation efforts and helping to protect wild habitats. But it turns out, that’s not all! Read the article to see what we mean.
Whoa, the light from outside your window just got brighter. It’s 9:30 in the evening, and you have a huge exam coming up tomorrow. You peek outside to see if your neighbors use their floodlights again, but they’re outside looking up in the sky. You stick your head out and notice that the moon got a lot bigger — double in size. You run outside and ask people what’s going on, but they don’t have a clue either. You take a picture of it and post it on social media. You view your feed and see that everyone is talking about it.
YES! You did it, you managed to do that lucid dream thing, you know, when you’re dreaming, and can suddenly become aware of yourself! You can do anything you want in those dreams, have magical powers, move things with your mind, ride a flying bike, fish while sitting on a small cloud...
You’re sitting on the balcony, fiddling with your phone, when suddenly, everything around you starts to turn to dust. Gaping, you put your phone down. You see cars, bicycles, sidewalks, street and traffic lights disappear right in front of your eyes!People in the street are panicking and running in different directions. You glance at your watch, and it vanishes too. You turn to look at your room through the balcony door and see that all your furniture is turning to dust. You look back at the street and see nothing but a dust storm. Your house starts shaking. You run downstairs and stand in the middle of the road. You’re just in time to see the buildings in your neighborhood fade away.
Night. You and your friends are riding bikes around a small city and notice a meteorite flying in the sky. It burns with a bright green flame and then falls right into a small pond near the town. You instantly dash to the crash site. The water on the pond’s surface is foaming and bubbling. The incandescent meteorite slowly sinks to the bottom and illuminates the black waters with a green light. Mesmerized by this picture, you approach the edge of the pier. The green glow is reflected in your glasses, beckoning you. You take a step, suddenly fall into the water, and pass out.
Hi there! I invite you to look at some of the coolest phenomena mother nature has. I’ll start with the red sky. I admit that this scenery is kinda scary, as if it’s a scene from a movie. How can our blue sky turn red? Zhoushan’s authorities assured people that this abnormality wasn’t related to solar activity. This tint appeared due to the refraction of red lights from fishing boats. That day, the weather was foggy and cloudy. The light got reflected from the low-hanging clouds. When weather conditions are right, aerosol particles and droplets of other liquids in the atmosphere refract and scatter the light. In this case, the light source was on fishing boats.
There’s a heavy snowstorm. The cold penetrates his bones. His legs are almost knee-deep in snow. Experienced hunter Joe Labelle makes his way through the forest, covering his face from the headwind. Any other person would have already fallen and screamed in despair, but not Joe Labelle. He can survive in any circumstances and always knows what to do. Right now, he’s heading to one of the villages in the far north of Canada.
You’ve been wandering through the hot desert for several hours, trying to find a unique artifact. The sun seems to be shining more and more brightly with every minute. You have enough supplies of water and food but not enough information about the object you’re looking for. You check the compass, look at the horizon, and suddenly, something blinds you. It looks like a beam of light reflected from a mirror. Yeah, you’ve found it!
Working on a film is a long and difficult process that can take several years. Writers, directors, cinematographers, and other people involved in the process pay attention to all the little details, trying to give viewers something fascinating. But despite all this attention, some mistakes are impossible to avoid, and the most attentive movie viewers still notice them.
Would you have ever thought that underground palaces, dance salons, immersive sci-fi sites, disco night moods, or museum-like structures, could be just one step into the earth away from you? It’s true. And for many of us, they are free to use on a daily basis. Metro stations might have the bad reputation of being dark, dirty, or loud, and maybe most of them are exactly that. But the exceptions can be breathtaking.
A ghost hiding in a grill oven, a spooky forest on your butter knife, or a man engulfed by a tree — these might be the perfect characters for the next big thriller movie. Some of the following pieces of accidental art might seem slightly scary at first, and others may need an explanation to be cracked, but they get us into the Halloween mood, no matter what time of year it actually is.
Women from Scandinavian countries are famous for their inner power, natural beauty, and amazing fashion sense. It seems simple: they love and value themselves. But if you dig a bit deeper, you realize that there’s an entire philosophy behind their ordinary everyday rituals.
When we think about interacting with animals, the first thing that likely comes to mind is living with pets such as dogs and cats. But there are times when other species who typically live in the wilderness decide to come closer and say hi to humans. Of course, there’s not much to be done about it but we can be happy seeing that cute deer come to the yard or that little bird landing on someone’s head.
Last year, a 4-year-old child in Somerset, New Jersey saved her mother’s life after finding her unresponsive and calling the police. This just goes to show you just how important knowing how to deal with an emergency, as well as other life skills, can really prove to be for children. This article will cover how to teach kids to remain calm and positive in certain situations, defend themselves, manage their time, and much more, and this can one day say their lives or somebody else’s.
This has probably happened to everyone: you say something silly and only later do you realize how silly it was. But it’s really important to not overestimate the importance of these moments and to try to treat them with humor and irony.
Getting your first dog, reading a story to your granddaughter, or taking a walk into the forest to see the bluebells — for some of us, this is pure joy. Sometimes life’s simplest pleasures count the most and make us feel more alive.
We rarely think about the true meaning of fairy tales we know. But if you dig deeper into the story, you will see that Rapunzel is about unhappy love, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs didn’t actually have a stepmother in the story, and Pinocchio was supposed to have a different ending. And the deeper you go into a story, the more interesting it gets.
It is not surprising that superhero movies are extremely popular nowadays because the world always needs people that protect others and do good deeds. But you can “wear the cape” even if you don’t have any superpowers. Different people do it in different ways: some grow entire forests or collect thousands of dollars for bags for children in shelters, and others just feed little kittens or help their wives with the cleaning.
Staying at a hotel not only ensures comfortable rest but it’s a whole adventure in itself! How can you not be impressed after waking up in an underwater resort, a place surrounded by сoral reef fish, or in a transparent capsule while you admire the northern lights from above? You can even stay in a suite in a port crane overlooking Amsterdam!
Imagine a place so beautiful that it makes you think it doesn’t belong in this world. There are places in every country that seem to have been taken straight out of a fairy tale. These charming villages, ancient castles, and deep forests have served as inspiration for movie designers and producers to create kingdoms that marvel us on screen, and today we’re taking a tour of some of them.
The Oscars are one of the most prestigious movie awards. But the movies that are nominated and awarded depends not only on the quality of the movie, but also the politics, the genre, and even the reputation of the actors and the directors. Maybe this is the reason why the Academy ignores great movies every year: many of them were nominated for other awards and even won some of them.
Life is full of unpredictable and amazing things. Like, for example, you butter your bread and see that a picture of a forest is left on your knife. Or when you cook your pasta and suddenly see a hypnotizing image. Or when you walk around a lake and see an invasion of millions of geese. It’s impossible to see things like these a second time.
Old photos allow us to take a look back into the past, even if it’s just for a while. And when these are photos of celebrities, the past becomes twice as interesting. Many of the photos displayed in this article were published by celebs themselves after having found them in personal archives. We would never have seen Katy Perry in a ballet tutu or a toothless Adele if they hadn’t shared these pictures with the world. Would you like to see what the actor who plays Khal Drogo looked like in his senior year?
Some photos can easily trick our eyes. We may mistake a strawberry for a tomato, wonder why someone would bring a mackerel to a bubble bath, and can’t for the life of us understand where that giant duck that covered the forest came from. Are our eyes playing tricks on us?
Every day we learn and see something amazing. For example, you’re buying groceries and see heart-shaped marks on apples, or you’re walking in the forest and see a fallen tree with 3 young trees growing out of it. Do you want to know what a sandstorm looks like when seen from a plane?
What do we know about Canada besides maple syrup, hockey, and police on horseback? Well, more than 100,000 people move to Canada every year and they stay there.
