Christmas is coming, and playing entertaining and fascinating board games with our families and friends is a favorite holiday pastime for many of us. A good board game can also become a nice Christmas present for someone who loves these activities. On Amazon, you can find a board game for any taste, age, and number of players, and to make your choice a bit easier, we selected 8 kid-friendly board games that the whole family can play. From the classic wooden Jenga to a Jumanji game that will “talk” to the players, there are many options to choose from, and we believe you can find your game here.

1. Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza: a quick and simple family game that can spice up any party. This super addictive game will require much hand slapping, so prepare your precious palms! Being quick to react will also be to your benefit.

Age: 8+

Number of players: 2-8

How to play this game: Play your cards one by one, reciting the words “taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza” in order. When the card matches the spoken word, you need to act quickly and put your hand on the pile. If you’re the last one, you’ll need to take the whole pile.

Promising review: First, the packaging of this card game is brilliant! I wish all card games came in a hard small magnetic case like this one. We are a home-educating family and often use a vast array of games as part of our home education, embracing learning through play theory. We easily learned to play this game (aged from 5 to 45) in 2 games. The rules are clear, easy to grasp, and easy to understand once you start playing. It’s so simple yet unbelievably enjoyable and so much fun. Upon opening, we played for a solid few hours, we hadn’t laughed so much in ages! It’s a fantastic family game but can be played with 2 players too, which is good as the kids can play it themselves. It would make a fun party game for any age as the adults enjoy this just as much as the kids do. Good for practicing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, focus, order, sequencing, language, and simply bonding with the family. Excellent quality set at a great price. Highly recommend. @CuriousCoconut

2. The Fuzzies: a game where you create a gravity-defying tower from little fuzzy balls. The principle of the game is similar to the one Jenga has, but this version is much softer and more colorful! The game will surely require well-trained fine motor skills and some luck.

Age: 6+

Number of players: 2+

How to play this game: Create a tower from little fuzzy balls. Then, one by one, the players remove the balls that match the color on the card, making the tower less stable with each move. The one who knocks the tower over loses.

Promising review: My family loves this game. It’s interesting that other reviewers said the tower doesn’t stay together because I was actually surprised by how much it stays in one piece and tolerates being altered. The game is simple: remove the fuzzy ball that matches the color of the top card using either the tweezers or your fingers. It’s actually great for fine motor skills! If you succeed, you pass the tweezers to the next player. If you knock the tower over, you lose. If you only knock over a few fuzzies you have to pick challenge cards that will make the next round more difficult for you (cover one eye, use your non-dominant hand, etc.) It’s a quick game and really lots of fun for every age. I would definitely recommend it. @D. Dodd

3. Hedbanz: picture guessing game that has an excellent choice of headband designs, including a cat, a crown, and a unicorn. The cards feature new, unexpected items and are very colorful and eye-catching. This exciting, fast-paced game can keep the whole family entertained for a long time.

Age: 8+

Number of players: 2-6

How to play this game: On your turn, flip over the timer and start asking yes/no questions to figure out the card shown in your headband.

Promising review: We bought this as a family present for our friends just to fall in love with the game so much that we had to buy one for ourselves too. A lot of fun for adults and kids alike. @Andrea Apostol

4. More or less: a game that will help you check how good your judgment is. This quiz has an outstanding collection of random and unexpected questions requiring critical thinking skills. Apart from having fun, by the end of the game, you’ll also expand your knowledge of different spheres of life.

Age: 14+

Number of players: 2+

How to play this game: The quiz game based on fun trivia: are sharks more or less old than trees? Are there more or less than 500,000 meatballs consumed in Ikea stores daily? Simply answer with “more” or “less.”

Promising review: These card games are so easy to play, whether with 2 players or groups. Fun for a time filler or a party game, and you could also use different packs for a wider appeal. We already had the science and nature edition which we loved, so now we mix the questions from both. The rules are so simple and you can amend them to suit your own gameplay. Basically, you decide if you’re playing individually or in teams, then select 5 cards each, or however many you decide on depending on time. We’ve found 3 cards are good for a bit of fun whilst doing other things but use more for a game. You ask the questions and score. Each person scores depending on how many correct answers they give. There’s a mix of interesting and bizarre questions in these packs, and it’s a 50/50 chance, so any knowledge level works. Considering the size of the packs, these are an excellent value for the money. @anem72

5. Junior Colourbrain: a family game with 120 kid-friendly questions that can keep kids and adults entertained while guessing the answers. This game can become an easy and engaging way for kids to learn.

Age: 6+

Number of players: 2+

How to play this game: Each team holds 11 cards in front of them. Together, they have to figure out which ones to put down to answer the question. Play the correct colors and your team can race ahead with the points... as long as some of the other teams get it wrong. The first to reach 10 points wins.

Promising review: This game is beautifully presented. It’s bright and colorful and immediately attracted attention from my 2 children, 9 and 7. The box is nice and sturdy, with good organization for the cards. The cards are thick quality and feel like they will withstand little hands playing with them. We love card and board games in our house and we are always on the lookout for games that the adults can enjoy as well. The rules were easily explained on a bright rule sheet, and we jumped straight in. The children only needed a couple of rounds before picking it up and really getting into it. The questions are a mixed bag, with some a little trickier and others simple. This was great for our wide variety of ages playing and also made it fun for the adults. I’d recommend this game. It’s a good quality game that’s compact, quick to pick up, and engaging for people of all ages. @Warbs_l

6. Jumanji: a game that can provide a real-life Jumanji experience, just like in the movie. The game has a video centerpiece where you can read mysterious riddles and get the feeling that the game is alive and talking to you.

Age: 8+

Number of players: 2, 4

How to play this game: Each player races to be the first to reach the center of the jungle and yell “JUMANJI” to win. But if any player loses all their life tokens, all players lose.

Promising review: The game tries to provide you a “real” Jumanji experience, and it’s probably as close as you could possibly get. It’s pretty good fun. The riddles are not too hard to solve but are not too easy either and the challenges can be quite amusing. The sound is fairly loud, but I think it’s a good thing because if it were too quiet and hard to hear it would take away from the fun. Game time for 2 players took about half an hour, so it’s not a long game, but obviously, with more players it will be longer and it probably also depends on how long you take to complete a challenge or a riddle too. @Lisa O.

7. Jenga: a game for those who love classics. Sliding out, stacking, and balancing wooden bricks fascinates many of us, and if you know a person who would love to have their own Jenga set, you can make them a bit happier this Christmas.

Age: 6+

Number of players: 2+

How to play this game: Slide out blocks one by one, and place them on top of the stack. Try your best to not let the tower fall.

Promising review: I bought this product for my 2 boys (9 and 5) they LOVE playing Jenga. The packaging is great, the wooden bricks are sturdy, and it stacks really well. We have endless fun with this game. Great for all ages and travels well. Highly recommend as a gift for birthdays / Christmas. @Katie

8. The Sock Game: a game that can become a perfect gift for board game lovers who think they’ve seen everything. Tiny items are hidden in the socks, and you must grab the right ones as quickly as possible. Things hidden in socks — what could be more Christmassy?

Age: 8+

Number of players: 2+

How to play this game: Each team has a large fluffy sock that has tiny items stuffed inside it. The teams compete to grab all the right items first.

Promising review: Yes, it’s simple! Yes, it’s basic! Yes, it’s expensive! But this is why it’s so amazing! But honestly have never known a game to cause so much happiness, joy, anger, and frustration, but make you love it regardless and want to continue playing it for ages. Hours and hours of fun! We have a big family ranging from ages 11 to 38, including the adults. And we got this last Christmas and played it nonstop. We usually buy new games at Christmas, but nothing could compete so we didn’t buy anything else and we are still playing with it now, and it’s endless fun. Yes, it’s pricey for what it is, but honestly you won’t regret it. It’s genuinely so much fun, and the kids will love it. Classic game, just buy it. @J. Pennington
