Jamie Lee Curtis has been a devoted mom on-screen multiples times, but her portrayal of maternal figures is just a glimpse of her passionate commitment to parenting in real life. When it comes to her own children, particularly her trans daughter Ruby Guest, Curtis is leaving no room for doubt — her unwavering love and support transcend any challenges.

In a recent interview, the star of Everything Everywhere All at Once took some time aside from discussing her career to focus on speaking about her youngest daughter, Ruby Guest, who is transgender. “This life is about love. Being a parent is about love, and I love Ruby. Love her,” Curtis said, explaining her unconditional support for Ruby.

“People have said, ’You’re so great to accept her love.’ What are you talking about? This is my daughter, this human being has come to me and said, ’This is who I am.’ And my job is to say, ’Welcome home.’ I will fight and defend her right to exist to anyone who claims that she doesn’t,” she added.

The actress also shared her perspective on the ongoing journey of understanding her daughter’s unique experience, who came out to her family in 2020 and to the public in 2021, and stressed her commitment to never assuming she knows it all.

“I’m trying to learn the most important thing is that I don’t know everything. And I, I wake up every day sober, saying, ’I don’t know everything.’ I don’t know a lot. There are a lot of things I don’t know about. And there’s a lot of this that I need to learn,” she admitted.

It’s not just Jamie Lee Curtis who is an inspiration as a parent of a transgender person. One dad went as far as designing swimsuits to make his trans daughter and other trans children feel comfortable and safe. His brand, born out of love, now exports bikinis for transgender girls all over the world.
