“Amazing Co-Parent”: Jennifer Lopez Pays Tribute to Jennifer Garner as They Readjust to Their New Blended Family
One of the most famous Hollywood couples of all time, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, reunited in 2021 after breaking up in 2004. They finally went through with the wedding they’d planned in the mid-2000s and made us believe in love again. But after nearly 2 decades of leading separate lives, Jen and Ben came together with some baggage, which still poses some challenges in their relationship.
Lopez and Affleck created a blended family with their marriage.
Let’s get a quick rundown of Affleck and Lopez’s children. Lopez has twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. The famous singer gave birth to her son, Maximilian David, and daughter, Emme Maribel, in 2008, which makes them both 14 years old.
Affleck also has all his children from one marriage, but he has a bigger family compared to his beloved. The Academy Award winner shares 3 kids with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner: daughters Violet and Seraphina, and son Samuel, born in 2005, 2009, and 2012, respectively.
Luckily for the new couple, all their children are very close in age. However, considering that none of them are little kids anymore, Affleck and Lopez needed to work twice as hard to make this transition comfortable for everyone.
Lopez admits that co-parenting isn’t an easy task.
J.Lo gave us a glimpse into her family life and addressed raising kids together not only with her new husband but also with his ex-wife. Lopez praises Garner, saying that she’s “an amazing co-parent, and they work really well together.” She also admitted that the 2 women learn things from each other, which helps with the entire process.
Lopez explains that since almost all of their kids are teenagers, they had to put extra effort into making them feel comfortable, explaining, “The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care. They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far. What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up.”
How Garner feels about their new family dynamic
What seemingly helps the most in co-parenting between the 2 Jennifers is their agreement that the kids are everyone’s priority. A source shared Garner’s feelings about bringing the 2 families together: “There is nothing more important to her than her kids’ happiness, so the fact that they feel welcomed and at ease and have bonded with J.Lo and her kids is just the best thing she could ask for.” And another source confirmed that Lopez has Garner’s “seal of approval.”
