Kelly Clarkson Reveals Her Divorce “Destroyed” Her and She Will Never Get Married Again
A gorgeous 41-year-old singer Kelly Clarkson has no wish to get back into romance after a bad divorce. The star claims she “wants to enjoy the single life and all the freedoms that come along with it” and we totally get it. She had so much on her plate while sorting things out that being single now seems like a blessing.
Kelly’s marriage of almost 7 years broke up.
Back in the early 2000s, Kelly Clarkson became a household name after taking home the prize as the winner of the first season of American Idol. Fast-forward a decade, she ended up getting hitched to a talent manager Brandon Blackstock. They seemed like a perfect match, but then out of nowhere, she filed for divorce in June 2020 after almost 7 years of marriage stating that some “irreconcilable differences” tore the relationship apart.
She talks about it with her kids.
Kelly grew up in a divorced family, so the star understands what her own children are going through. She recognizes that it’s a significant burden for them to carry, “I just sit there, and I’m like, ’I’m from a divorced family as well. I get it. That sucks. We’re going to work it out. And you are so loved by both of us.’ I think communicating with them and not treating them — not treating them like an adult, because they’re not — but not treating them like a child. They’re not small feelings. Those are huge feelings, and those are huge emotions.”
Her kids still want their dad back.
The singer also opened up about the heart-to-heart conversations she has with her children, “I ask my kids every night when we’re snuggling, ’Are you happy? And if you’re not, what could make you happier?’ A lot of times it would be, ’You know, I’m just really sad. I wish mommy and daddy were in the same house.’”
The star doesn’t want to think about dating.
In a conversation about marriage, Clarkson said she “can’t even imagine doing it again.” Gwyneth Paltrow tried to cheer up the singer by saying, “You’ll have it again, Kelly. It just takes time,” but the star replied, “I love dating me! So I’m actually not looking for it.” The star also reveals, “I was destroyed, on the ground, crying, because that’s a loss.”
She likes her independence.
Kelly recognizes the value of taking time for herself, “It’s one of those things you didn’t expect or anything, but at the same time, I’ve already had people be like, ’Let me know when you’re wanting to date.’ It’s like, you know what, I don’t think you have to have someone with you all the time. I really do enjoy my work, my kids, my creative self. Sometimes I got stifled in relationships. It’s hard to be as creative as I can because sometimes I wear my heart on my sleeve.”
Kelly admits she might not avoid love completely after all.
At the same time, Kelly admits she’s still open to love, “Maybe in the future, you never know. Well, I do know I won’t get married again. But I just mean, you never know about love. It’s one of those things where we’re engineered — especially from where I’m from — to have to have that. And I don’t have that need.”
