Matt Damon Chooses a Special Way to Mark the 20th Anniversary of Meeting His Wife

Matt Damon is still totally in love with his wife, Luciana Barroso, 2 decades after they first met. Despite being very private, the star chose a very public way to commemorate the day he got to know the love of his life. Aside from his top-notch acting talent, we can’t help but admire Damon for being the amazing family man that he is.

He mentioned the special event on TV.

Recently, Matt Damon was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his new movie, Air, in which he stars alongside his bestie, Ben Affleck. As he was speaking about the film, which is focused on the story of Michael Jordan, the 52-year-old actor pointed out a really interesting coincidence.

He noted, ’’It’s really weird. The movie Air is opening today, and we realized that Michael Jordan wore 2 numbers in his career, 45 and 23, and the date is 4/5/23.’’

When explaining this, Damon couldn’t help but mention another fact about that date that changed his life forever. The Oscar winner added with a smile, ’’But much more importantly, it’s 20 years since I met Lucy."

Lucy Barroso was already a mom when they met.

Damon started dating Barroso back in 2003 after meeting her while filming the comedy, Stuck on You. The couple got married 2 years later.

Barroso, who is now 46, had a daughter when she met the actor, and Damon revealed that motherhood was one of the traits he admired most in her.

While recalling the first time they met, Barroso explained, ’’We definitely had a connection right away; it was so easy to talk to each other.’’

Barroso added that by the end of the evening, Damon invited her to go out with his friends, but she replied, ’’I can’t, I have a 4-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere.’’ She then noted, ’’And that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter.’’ In fact, Barroso recalls Damon saying, ’’I love that you’re a mom and that’s your priority.’’

We recently saw a rare glimpse of the family together.

The couple went on to have 3 daughters together. And although his family prefers to be out of the spotlight, we got to see the beautiful family reunited together on the red carpet during the premiere of Air, although Barroso’s first daughter was not present during the event.

This sweet family has certainly stolen our hearts, and seeing how strong the bond between Damon and Barroso is after all these years together reminds us that true love is stronger than the temptations and obstacles that come with fame.
