Some celebrities, such as Jamie Lee Curtis and Anne Hathaway, were privileged to be given leading roles in their debut films. Although, it’s not so simple for many stars, as the majority of them must play several minor roles before achieving fame. However, remembering these seemingly little efforts is important because they led to their current success.

1. Isabelle Fuhrman

In 2009, at age 12, Isabelle Fuhrman began portraying Esther in the psychological horror-thriller film, Orphan. She has reprised the little psycho role she played as a kid in the film, Orphan: First Kill, noting that she enjoys performing as darker characters and delving into their minds to bring compassion to them.

2. Jamie Lee Curtis

In 1978, Jamie Lee Curtis began her acting career as Laurie Strode in the legendary horror flick, Halloween. She has reprised the role in 7 other productions, including a rebooted trilogy that began in 2018 and will end with the forthcoming film, Halloween Ends.

3. Ralph Macchio

In 1984, Ralph Macchio played Daniel LaRusso, a character he portrayed in 3 other Karate Kid movies before reprising the role for the series, Cobra Kai. On the show, Daniel now owns a car dealership in the San Fernando Valley, which isn’t what Macchio anticipated the character would be doing with his life. In fact, the actor never thought he’d return to the franchise.

4. Anne Hathaway

As a teen, Anne Hathaway was cast in the TV show, Get Real, which ran from 1999 to 2000. Her big break came when she played the main character in the Disney comedy, The Princess Diaries (2001). After being in a number of family movies, Hathaway switched to adult roles in dramas, like Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, both of which came out in 2005.

Additionally, she made another big pivot in her career when she joined the cast of The Devil Wears Prada. And she was in utter shock when she won an Oscar in 2013 for her role in the Les Misérables movie. She entered the next decade with the thriller, The Last Thing He Wanted.

5. Rico Rodriguez

The first season of Modern Family was able to make Hollywood (and the rest of the world) chuckle. Rico Rodriguez was a perfect fit for the character of Manny Delgado, which allowed him to build on his already successful career and inherit his mother’s zest for life in the series. The conclusion of the series was, once again, successful and also taught about family values.

6. Tom Holland

At the age of 12, Tom Holland made his theatrical debut as Michael, Billy’s best buddy, in Billy Elliot the Musical on London’s West End. He rose to fame after being cast as Peter in the Spider-Man: No Way Home, becoming a part of the Marvel family.

7. Zendaya

Before appearing on the Disney Channel show, Shake It Up, Zendaya was a child model. She produced and starred in the Disney TV series, K.C. Undercover. She is now a very well-known actress, with her most recent role being Rue in the HBO series, Euphoria. Lately, she entered the new decade with the sci-fi film, Dune.

8. Kristen Stewart

At the age of 8, Kristen Stewart was scouted and performed in a few minor television and film parts, including Cold Creek Manor. With her leading role as Bella in the Twilight films, she rose to fame. Timlin was her most recent character in Crimes of the Future.

9. Millie Bobby Brown

In 2013, Millie Bobby Brown made her acting debut as a guest star on the ABC fantasy drama series, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, a spin-off of Once Upon a Time, portraying the role of Young Alice. With her leading role as Eleven in the Netflix science fiction series, Stranger Things, she has become a well-known actress. She also received 2 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and 2 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

10. Emily Osment

In 2002, Emily Osment made her cinematic debut as Gerti Giggles in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, for which she was awarded the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film. In 2003, she reprised her role in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, the third installment of the franchise. She is well known for her character in Hannah Montana as Lilly. Chelsea was her most recent character in the show, Pretty Smart.

Which of these stars has changed the most in your opinion? How many of these movies have you seen?
