Anastasia Kirs learned to knit as a child, under the tutelage of her grandmother. Today she has mastered the craft of knitting and turned it into a way of life. She decided to make “amigurumis,” as they would say in Japan, which are little crocheted figurines or crocheted stuffed toys.

The Bright Side team had a great conversation with Anastasia, who shared with us some of the details about how she manages to make these tiny toys. First of all, she told us how her technique evolved with time. She gradually reduced the crochet and the thickness of the thread until she managed to make a bear that was only 0.06 inches. This delicate work requires patience and, in her own words, “the most delicate and difficult part is to make the face. You have to embroider and make other details on a very small crocheted piece. Every millimeter is precious.”

The process of creation

The creation of her little creatures takes a lot of time and dedication, so she has decided to make only small batches of them, to be able to give free rein to her creativity and truly personalize them. That’s why she doesn’t accept large orders. “To create a new design, I sketch and sit down to work. On average, it takes me 2 to 3 days to create a new character, and then comes the routine of designing the patterns,” said Anastasia. Below, you can see some of her cute designs.
