Blake Lively’s Emotional Speech to Ryan Reynolds Comes to Light, Moving Him to Tears

The event is an annual fundraiser to support an organization that runs local theaters in California. Big names were previously awarded the honor, such as Matthew McConaughey, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, etc.

The host of the event humorously introduced Blake Lively on stage, sharing that “She stared with Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern, and they recently collaborated on their 4th child.”

Blake Lively opened her speech by thanking Canada for giving the people the man we know as Ryan Reynolds, a man who has spread joy and laughter around the world “with his art, his heart, his philanthropy, his humor, his integrity, his unmatched work ethic, his self-deprecating levity, and his grace.”

The Gossip Girl actress said that Ryan always had something in him that took him back home, to Canada. Now, she continued, “I am his home and our girls are his home. And just like that 19-year-old boy, he races home, whether it’s from across the globe or a meeting across the street, he is hardwired to get home. If he didn’t come home from a set, not in his wardrobe, we would be very concerned. Soaked in mud, fake blood, real blood, prosthetic scars, superhero suits, tap shoes, or clown makeup, Daddy always comes home.”

Blake shared that Ryan always races back home and “He’s able to somehow be everything to everyone, all at once. He is the most present person you’ll ever meet. And yes, he creates magic in his work, but man, oh man, does he create magic in his real life. And my daughters, they know what I’m talking about.” At that moment, she called out to her daughter, JJ, who was sitting beside her father, witnessing a moment that will stay in her memory forever.

The mother of 4 continued, “So really, all this is to say, if anything defines this man, it’s the way that he lives his life to honor and value his home, whether that be me and our babies, or all of his people in this room and beyond.”
