As far as casting kits go, this definitely does the job! The process is simple, but it’s important to prepare, as the alginate does dry quickly. After mixing the alginate, we submerged our clasped hands, waited approximately 10 minutes to be sure, and then gently removed them. After washing the cast with water, we drained it, mixed the cast mix, and filled it. Tapping the sides is really important to avoid bubbles. However, our cast did have lots of bubbles on the back of my husband’s hand. I have tried my best to remove these carefully with the wooden pick provided, a needle, and sanding. The kit is fantastic, and it was really quite an emotional experience to peel back the set alginate to reveal our hands. The detail is incredible, as you can see in my pics, even fingerprint ridges!
