Almost everyone has heard about the big movie releases of 2019 like Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, and Joker. But some less popular films didn’t get as much attention even though they likely deserved it — after all, many of them are great films that are well worth your time.

Bright Side wants to tell you about the most underappreciated films of the past 12 months. Go get some popcorn and make sure you watch at least one of these films next weekend.

An Easy Girl

This drama takes us to a hot summer in the French Riviera. The main character of the film is Naïma, a modest 16-year-old girl that dreams about earning a prestigious college degree and a well-paid job. Her cousin Sofia is completely different from her — she’s a beautiful girl that loves meeting men and knows how to charm anyone. These 2 girls will meet and go on a journey that will change both of them.

Marriage Story

In his new film, director Noah Baumbach tells a story of a couple that is going through a difficult divorce and the custody of their young son is at stake. The main roles of the film are played by Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson. Both viewers and critics alike think that this is a really deep and honest film.

The Death and Life of John F. Donovan

This movie is centered around John F. Donovan, the star of a teenage series (who is remarkably portrayed by Kit Harington). This biographical drama will tell you a story about the competition between the Ford and Ferrari teams. They wanted to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1966. The story focuses on engineers and racers that dream about one thing: the win.
