10 Celebrities Who Go the Extra Mile to Protect Their Privacy

Part of being a celebrity is always looking your best. But some stars rebel against these expectations and choose to protect their right to privacy. From wearing the same clothes to hide from paparazzi to donning giant helmets to cover their faces, these artists prove living in the spotlight doesn’t equal giving up your privacy.

We at Bright Side were curious to find out that even the most famous celebrities can be very secretive, and some even perform on stage without showing their faces.

1. Brad Pitt

Even the actor’s biggest fans might not know that Brad Pitt was actually named after his father, William Alvin Pitt, and his full name is William Bradley Pitt. But he decided to drop his first name and simply uses Brad as his stage name. The award-winning actor takes his privacy very seriously, he doesn’t have social media accounts and even hired Internet bodyguards to protect his kids online.

2. Katy Perry

Many celebrities can’t go to a beauty salon or simply have a cup of Joe at local coffee shops without making headlines. But Katy Perry refuses to play by these rules. The “Dark Horse” singer uses a smart move to confuse the paparazzi and wears the same Adidas tracksuit when she leaves home. If she looks nearly the same in many photos, it’s hard to tell when the shot was actually taken.

3. H.E.R.

The R&B artist and songwriter, H.E.R. (an acronym for “Having Everything Revealed”), never appears in public without a huge pair of sunglasses. The 24-year-old singer chooses the simplest way to conceal her identity and makes it clear that she takes her privacy seriously. H.E.R. is a talented young artist and already has earned 5 Grammy nominations over the last few years.

4. Polar

An ordinary teenage schoolgirl by day and a rebel singer by night, the virtual 3D singer, Polar, always wears a mask to hide her face. She uses artificial intelligence to create her songs, and her music won’t leave anyone indifferent. Polar’s new song, “Close to You,” just appeared on YouTube. Starting on October 1, her songs will be available via all music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Deezer.

5. Kiss

These classic rock band members rocked their face paint and stunning costumes in the early ’70s. And although Kiss abandoned its trademark makeup and outfits in the ’80s, their iconic look has inspired many, including world-famous wrestlers.

6. Fever Ray

Swedish singer-songwriter Fever Ray, also known as Karin Dreijer, is the leader of the electronic music duo, The Knife. They use face paint to hide their true identity, but their unique sound is easily recognizable. The talented singer has won many music awards and released several solo albums.

7. Deadmau5

The Canadian electronic music producer, Joel Thomas Zimmerman, known to his fans as Deadmau5, never appears on stage without his helmet with giant ears. This unusual costume was inspired by a dead mouse he found in his computer when he was a teenager. Deadmau5 produces many genres of electronic music and has been nominated for a Grammy 6 times for his work.

8. Clinic

Originally from Liverpool, the Clinic singers wear surgical outfits and masks on stage to hide their faces. The band works in many genres, including indie rock, dance-punk, and garage rock.

9. Beefcake the Mighty (Gwar)

The bass player in the heavy metal band, Gwar, hides his face behind a huge helmet. He first played the guitar but soon became the permanent bass player of the band. On stage, he wears armor inspired by Roman legionnaires.

10. Craig Jones (Slipknot)

Craig Michael Jones, also known as “133,” is a musician and keyboardist for the heavy metal band, Slipknot. When he first joined the band, he wore women’s pantyhose to hide his face, but he later traded it for an astronaut space helmet with long nails. The helmet became his trademark and it has been consistent over the years.

Whose stage outfit do you find the most mysterious? Do you know other artists who hide their faces?
