From childhood, we like to watch movies about treasure hunting. Hoping to find some antique valuables, we continue exploring attics, basements, and old houses in our adult life, asking our parents for more information about this or that find — who it belonged to and why it was used. All because each thing has its own history.

“The first gift my great grandfather purchased for my great grandmother nearly 100 years ago.”

  • I wonder why modern construction doesn’t take pride in the small ornate details anymore. I hate to sound like an angry person that thinks everything was better back in the day, but every single fireplace in new houses is just plain white trim and a white mantle. © hahahahaha90000 / Reddit
