Mark Wahlberg Explains Why His Kids Were the Reason He Left Hollywood
As a father of 4, Mark Wahlberg’s children come before anything else, even his Hollywood career. In fact, the star has opened up about his big decision to move away from Hollywood, and the reason will make you adore and admire this amazing family man even more.
They moved to Las Vegas.
Mark and his wife of 13 years, Rhea Durham, along with their 2 daughters, aged 19 and 13, and 2 sons, aged 17 and 14, have relocated to Las Vegas.
And it seems that this significant step has been a positive change for the family, as the loving father noted, ’’The kids are really happy, and it’s all about them.’’
The devoted dad explained that his children are the main reason for his relocation because he wants to give them the chance to follow their goals.
He said, ’’My daughter’s an equestrian, my son’s a golfer. My oldest daughter, now she’s off to college. My son’s a junior.’’ And he noted that being in Las Vegas is ’’really giving the kids a chance to thrive.’’
It’s a good place for the kids.
Wahlberg acknowledges that Nevada might sound like a surprising choice given that when we usually think of family-friendly places, Las Vegas doesn’t automatically come to mind. But the star begs to differ.
He noted, ’’Just about 15, 20 minutes away, there’s a whole lot of other amazing areas that are all about family and community.’’ He also explained that his kids’ school is ’’two blocks down the road.’’
Life in Hollywood hasn’t been easy.
The Fighter actor, who is a Hollywood A-lister, confessed that his journey in the movie industry has ’’been difficult’’ in the past.
He admitted, ’’I moved to California originally to make movies. I’ve made 3 movies in the last 15 years in LA.’’
In fact, Mark is hopeful that this relocation will open new business possibilities for him. He shared, ’’There’s lots of opportunity for growth here.’’
The actor said, ’’We’re trying to create a studio. We’re trying to build a shoe factory. We want to create lots of jobs here.’’ He added that the studio alone would help create ’’10,000 jobs.’’
Besides being convenient for the kids and a potentially lucrative business step, Wahlberg admitted that the move is also partially based on a financial decision, pointing out that this new area is ’’more affordable.’’
We admire this star for his honesty, and we wish this adorable and close-knit family the best of luck.
