for me, geraniums are the most annoying plants, they smell so bad I get headaches from them 😥
6 Houseplants That Can Make Every Room in Your Home Smell Nice

Enjoying a nice-smelling home might come at a cost if you use air fresheners, as research has found that chemicals in them may be harmful to our health due to them reducing lung function. However, this doesn’t mean that we can’t change the smell in the house for the better without risk — this is one of many things that indoor plants can help us with.
We at Bright Side want you to enjoy lovely fragrances at home safely, which is why we’ve found these 6 great houseplants that will help you with this.
Hoya: chocolate and butterscotch
Also called a wax plant or porcelain flower, hoya has a nice, sweet smell to it. For example, many people find that Hoya carnosa smells like chocolate or vanilla, and Hoya kentiana’s smell reminds them of butterscotch. It’s not hard to care for: the plant is even suitable for beginners. Make sure to keep the soil moist and avoid direct sunlight on the leaves.
Scented-leaved geranium: lemon
These plants emit varying smells when you touch them. And the variety of their fragrances is really impressive: scented-leaved geraniums can smell like lemons, chocolate, roses, ginger, and more. They require a lot of sunlight and moist soil to thrive.
Jasmine: a sweet scent
In addition to their beautiful star-like white flowers, this plant has a lovely sweet fragrance to it, which is especially noticeable during the night. Jasmine grows faster when exposed to sunlight, so take it outside from time to time during the summer and keep it next to a south-facing window. Additionally, keep the soil moist but not wet.
Cuban oregano: a minty scent
Cuban oregano, which is also sometimes called Mexican mint, is neither oregano nor mint. This is a lovely plant with velvety leaves that you can enjoy not only for its nice minty fragrance, but you can also use it fresh or dried for cooking. Cuban oregano grows best next to a sunny window if you water it about once a week.
Gardenia: a sweet flowery scent
Gardenias, being one of the most fragrant plants with a distinct flowery scent, have a well-deserved place in the hearts of many gardeners. It has gorgeous white flowers and glossy green leaves, however, it can be tricky to care for. Among the many conditions they require are moderate humidity, rather cool temperatures, and a lot of light.
Lavender: a floral scent with spicy notes
Even though this isn’t a very common houseplant, growing lavender at home can bring you a lot of benefits. Its violet flowers look gorgeous, and the smell it gives your house is hard not to appreciate.
Additionally, the plant is often used in aromatherapy and can help you reduce stress. Even though taking care of it might bring some of that stress right back to you (it needs a lot of light and just the right amount of water), it’s still worth the effort.
