15 Childhood Stories Bright Side Readers Shared With Us That Left Us Petrified

Some things cannot be explained. We can’t understand how kids can remember their “past lives,” if that even exists. But these stories today gave us goosebumps, and we will still need some explanations.

  • My 4-year-old was talking to someone while sitting on her bed. I came up the stairs and listened. I heard her say, “yes, ok, I will tell her. Bye, Grandma.” My biological dad had just died, and I was worried about him being ok. I asked her who she was talking to. She said, “Grandma, and she told me to tell you Grandpa is ok and she’s taking care of him.” She never met Grandma and was conceived shortly after Grandma died. Shelly Ann Borchardt / Facebook

  • When my son was 3, I was wearing a necklace that I hadn’t worn in a long time. He put it in his hand and said, “I gave this to you” and when I said, “No honey, you didn’t.” He responded, “Yes, I did, it used to be mine... I gave it to you a long time ago.” I got chills. The necklace had been my grandfather’s tie tac they gave me for my sweet 16, 20 years earlier. My grandfather passed away 11 years before his birth, and my son is named after him. • When my brother and I were little, we were in the car with Mom and Dad, driving through fields and the countryside miles from home. My brother had been quietly looking out of the window, and suddenly he pointed to a lone house in the distance and said, “Oh look, that’s where I used to live.” My mom said, “When??” He got quite annoyed and said, “You know, when I lived with my other mom and dad.” We had never been to the area before, and it completely spooked my poor mom and dad to hear him so convinced... • When my daughter was about 2, she walked into a closet in our living room and kept running out giggling. I asked her what she was doing, and she kept telling me to say hi. I asked her, “Say hi to who?” She said, “Say hi to Papa.” I was like, “Yeah, yeah, hi, papa.” Papa was my grandfather who passed away in 1999. My daughter was born at the end of 2001 and never met or saw a picture of my papa. A day or so later, we went to my parents’ house, and she saw a picture and said, “That’s papa!” It was indeed a picture of my papa. I’ve never forgotten this since! Lynn Wall / Facebook
  • When I was pregnant almost 10 years ago, I didn’t know it was twins. I lost one, and I’ve never told my daughter this. When she was about 4, she asked me who the little girl who comes and sits on her bed and talks to her is. We haven’t lost any kids in our family other than her twin. It totally gave me goosebumps. • I was cooking spaghetti. My son started preparing 3 plates. I asked why he put 3 when it was only the 2 of us. He said, “No, grandma is upstairs.” It was just me and him living in the house, and my grandma had been long gone by that time... Pickel Ling / Facebook
  • When my dad passed away, I was so upset about telling my son, and when I finally gathered the courage to tell him, he said, “I know, mom, he already told me.” Keitumetse J Mosehla / Facebook
  • When my son was 3, he used to tell me stories about how he worked on the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge with his dad and that he used to be one of the carpenters there. My son, at that age, hadn’t ever been to San Francisco because we live in Sydney, Australia. He never stopped talking about it, so when he turned 5, we traveled and took him to see the Golden Gate Bridge, and it was amazing to see his reaction, he was screaming with joy, it was like seeing someone coming home for the first time after a long absence. Catherine Parayno / Facebook

  • When my daughter was 7, she went downstairs to get a popsicle out of the freezer in the basement. She came back upstairs and said, “Mommy, there’s a man downstairs and he said his name was Harold, and he’s your grandfather.” I told her, “Yes, my grandfather died when I was around 7.” I’d never told my kids anything about him. Marsmac Potter / Facebook

  • My twins were in nursery school. My parents had been deceased for at least 10 years. Attached to the school was a nondenominational church. For Xmas, they were doing a skit. My daughter ran into my arms and started talking to me about my parents. She said she saw them in church. They (my parents) wanted her to tell me how proud they are of me... did I tell you my twins were adopted...? Kathie Leonardow / Facebook
  • I was born into a Hindu family. As a child, I would constantly have the same dream. It was in the home I lived in until I was 12. The doorbell would ring, and there would be 2 nuns. One very tall and one short. They were handing my mother a baby, and then the door would close. That’s it! For some reason, I would feel at ease and not stressed after the dream. At the age of 15, I found out I was adopted. Sabrina Sharma / Facebook
  • When my daughter was 2, she told me she picked me to be her mom. She said I saw you in California and picked you. We lived in Virginia, but I was in California for most of my life. Paula Garcia Porter / Facebook
  • My grandson was 18 months old when my daddy died. They had never met since we lived in Georgia and Daddy in Pennsylvania. While at the funeral home, my grandson was sitting on the kneeler by himself in front of my daddy’s urn, just talking up a storm. We all just watched him. When he returned to us, I asked him what he was doing. He said Pappy was telling him he was sorry he never met him, and then MiMi (my Mommy) also came by to talk to him. They told us they would always be with us. Debbie Skasik Myers / Facebook
  • We had built a house where an old barn was. Our 4-year-old son was looking out of the picture window and yelled, “There’s the farmer.” We looked and saw nothing. He then ran into his bedroom and said that the farmer was giving hay to a cow and milking it. At times, we could hear cows mooing and other animals. Peggy Shepardson / Facebook
  • I had a threatened miscarriage at 12 weeks... Thankfully, I still had a very beautiful little girl who arrived 4 weeks early. When she was 4, she told me she had another baby with her inside my tummy who kept sticking her feet on her... so she kicked her out. Judy Graves / Facebook
