Often life seems gray and monotonous, and small failures seem to follow us. At moments like this, it seems impossible to get out of this vicious circle. But it is then that fate takes us by surprise through a random meeting or pleasant news, which instantly lifts the mood. And now the soul burns with hope, and the day becomes a little brighter.

  • It’s been 5 years since I met my husband through rather curious circumstances. I had just got my driving license and was driving on the highway to my summer cottage. Suddenly, a car drives out of the secondary road and cuts off the one in the right lane. And that one hits me. In the end, we were the only ones who got damaged, and the culprit drove away. I got a dent. The driver comes up to me and says, “I’ve got some money,” and immediately gives me some cash. I’m blown away. I got the car fixed and even had a lot of money left. And then I came to work, and this man is our new general manager. © Overheard / Ideer
  • I once bought an antique plate online. In the photo, I saw that it had a crack and got upset. I said to the seller, “I want a discount!” He started to grumble but agreed. I got it delivered, and when I unpacked it, I was stunned — the dish was flawless. I confessed to the seller, and he said, “Well, you’re lucky, then.” Apparently, there were several plates. He wouldn’t take any extra money.
  • Last winter, my friend and I got into a road accident in really cold weather in the middle of nowhere. The car skidded, went off the road, and got buried in snow. There was no network connection. The only thing my friend said at that moment was, “Lucky us!” It turned out that she happened to have her husband’s set of winter fishing clothes, 2 sleeping bags, a bunch of old clothes, and a gas burner in the trunk. She had planned to take it all to the garage before the trip but didn’t have time. We stayed there for 6 hours, drinking boiling water and taking turns going out to the road in the husband’s clothes to wait for help. It was real luck that there was enough gasoline and that we had some food and water with us. Since then, my friend always carries a full survival kit in her car, and if it’s very cold, she doesn’t even go out of town. © Overheard / Ideer
  • Once in winter it rained, and in the morning everything was covered with ice. I was walking and fell and tore my leggings. So, I’m sitting there and crying, trying to get up and can’t. And then my tears dry up because I see money under the ice. And I start breaking the ice while still lying down. I found a lot. But passers-by were dumbfounded by the sight of a girl lying on the ice. © Sofia / ADME
  • When I was about 10, my family was making an international flight but had to stay overnight in Seattle. My dad used one of those little carts for luggage but ended up leaving all of our passports in it. The next morning when we realized what had happened we were scrambling around all the offices in the airport seeing if someone had turned it in with no luck. As we were in the process of giving up and going back to the hotel, my dad spotted a guy carrying a folder similar to the one that our passports had been in at which point he stopped the guy and asked if he had found it in a luggage cart. The guy said yes and that he was going to go turn it in at the security office. My dad told him to open it and look at the passport pictures, and lo and behold it contained all of our passports. We barely made the flight but my dad avoided losing thousands of dollars. © rylandj / Reddit
  • I lost my phone while we were laying pipe at work. Filled in the trench and then realized I had lost it somewhere in the 60 feet of the trench we dug. Left it there overnight seeing as it was already dark and I couldn’t hear it when I called it. Returned the next day with listening equipment. Took an extremely lucky guess on where it was and located it within 30 minutes. Dug 2.5 feet down to find that the only damage was a small crack on my screen protector and a scuff on my Otter Box. Everyone including me had written it off as never to be recovered. 2 hours of my time when I figured it would take me a week to find it. © TommyToughNuts3 / Reddit
  • My husband went to a barbershop before New Year’s Eve. Got a shave there and things like that. And then in early January, he gets a call from that salon. They say that during the last visit, the husband became a participant in some kind of raffle. As a result, he won a whole year of service in this barbershop. My husband has been getting a haircut and beard care, and all kinds of masks, and facial massage for 10 months now! Oh, I feel that it will be hard for him to get off it. © Muscovite under an umbrella / ADME
  • I’m a second-year student living in a hostel. One day I lost my last money in the subway. I was walking down the street and saw a $100 note falling out of some man’s pocket. I picked it up and yelled, “Excuse me, you lost your $100.” And he carelessly replied, “Take it, you need it more!” I don’t know how he realized that I needed it more. He couldn’t see me, I was behind him. But I thanked him and went home in high spirits. © Overheard / Ideer
  • I randomly applied for a job in the USA, bored at work one morning hating my life. Pretty much worked a dead-end job. Didn’t expect anything from it, was just bored. Received a phone call that day for an interview and a job offer the next day. Within 2 weeks I was down at the US embassy and in 4 weeks I was on a one-way flight to the States. 7 years later I’m still here and my life’s amazing living the American dream. Still amazes me that a single job application I did change the entire course of my life. © Unknown author / Reddit
  • History was not easy for me during my studies. During the exam, I only knew the answer to the first question. I answered it. And then I looked over, and the teacher was asleep. We all knew that he had recently had a son. We all sat very quietly for about an hour. And when he woke up, he apologized to us and gave us all good grades. © Natalia / ADME
  • When I was a kid, we were playing under the windows of the house, digging something there. I pulled out some grass and found a matchbox. I looked inside and there was jewelry: silver and gold earrings. They were simple and very thin, but it was like a treasure chest for a child. © Evgeny Molotov / ADME
  • Had an old coworker hit me up to see if I knew anyone interested in a position at his company (I wasn’t able to leave at that point). Gave him a name, and they got the job. 6 months later, that person I recommended got me a job at the company that more than doubled my salary with less responsibility. The icing on the cake is that this position is in the UK and I have always wanted to live abroad (from the US). Unbelievable. © Unknown author / Reddit
  • My child and I were collecting boxed figurines. There are 10 figurines in the series, and we bought 10 boxes at a time — everything they had in the shop. Ended up finding all the figurines! Not one was the same! I was more excited than my child. © Vika / ADME
  • Walked up to my car and noticed a huge scratch and dent on it. I stood there for half an hour wondering how it could happen. Tried to remember where I could hit my car. I peeled off a piece of paint, and there was rust. I got upset even more. And then I realized that my car was clean and intact, just standing a bit further away. I was overjoyed. © Overheard / Ideer
  • Missed the deadline for applications to an art school, still got into the entrance test but didn’t pass it. Days later get called that one student didn’t want the place, I was next in line, hell yeah! © Silaries / Reddit
