The film industry witnessed an electrifying weekend as two highly anticipated blockbusters, Barbie and Oppenheimer, made their grand debut. Although Barbie emerged victorious in the “Barbenheimer” battle, fans have fallen in love with this unique combo and are eagerly hoping for “Barbenheimer” to become a reality. And it seems their wish might just come true.

Barbie made history for the biggest debut of a film directed by a woman.

Over the weekend, Barbie achieved a historic feat, amassing an impressive $155 million in its opening run. And Oppenheimer also made waves with an outstanding $80.5 million in its first three days at the box office.

But Barbie and Oppenheimer combined, known as the “Barbenheimer” were guilty of the biggest weekend haul since 2019, and the fourth-largest ever.

Before Barbie was even released, Margot Robbie hinted at a possible sequel.

Margot, who portrays Barbie in the movie, teased the possibility of a sequel and expressed her openness to returning to Barbie Land.

While she thinks that “you fall into a bit of a trap if you try and set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels,” she revealed that there were discussions about Barbie’s future and a potential sequel. “It could go a million different directions from this point,” Margot added.

Cillian Murphy, who plays the title role in Oppenheimer, might be the new face of Ken in the Barbie sequel.

“Would I play a Ken in Barbie 2? Sure,” Cillian revealed in an interview. “Let’s read the script and let’s have a conversation.”

Well, we guess, if the script for Barbie 2 satisfies Murphy’s expectations, then he’s ready to make “Barbenheimer” a reality.

While Cillian Murphy might land a role and visit Barbie Land, the rest of us shouldn’t settle for being only behind the big screen. You can visit Barbie’s dreamhouse as it is once again available for rent.
