Turning 50 is a huge milestone that needs to be celebrated, yet in our day and age where society pressures us to stay young, sometimes getting older becomes a source of worry. Not for Cameron Diaz though. The beloved actress has chosen to fully embrace her wrinkles and aging signs instead of fighting them. Her journey to self-acceptance has been bumpy but she started to view her body in a totally different way when she realized the one thing that matters above all.

Bright Side admires Cameron’s approach to aging and all the progress she’s made to finally understand how precious her body is. Here is an inspiring and positive journey that all women can relate to.

Her incredible physique opened the doors of fame

With her 174 cm silhouette, gorgeous features, and bubbly personality it is nearly impossible for Cameron to go unnoticed. And just when she was only 16, the Californian teenager signed a modeling contract with one of the biggest agencies. Soon after she started appearing in ads for some of the world’s most famous brands and was featured on the covers of magazines.

Thanks to her advantageous looks and witty personality, the successful model had already set foot in the world of spotlights and fame even before entering her twenties. And just at 21, her first breakthrough role in The Mask made her the ’’It’’ girl that everyone talked about and desired.

Falling victim of beauty standards

In a world where beauty reigns supreme, even the youthful and stunning Diaz wasn’t spared from the pressures of maintaining almost impossible beauty standards. The actress revealed ’’I am absolutely a victim to all of the societal objectifications and exploitations that women are subjected to."

She admitted that she used to overthink her appearance in the past and “pick herself apart.” She said that she’d sit “in the mirror for seven hours a day” until she realized that it was toxic.

However, Cameron’s priorities totally shifted after spending 8 years away from the limelight. This calming period has allowed her to accept herself and her changing body, which was refreshing.

During this time-out, she realized how precious her body actually is and this acted as a much-needed wake-up call. She thought to herself “Why am I sitting here being so mean to myself? My body is strong; my body is capable, why am I going to talk down to it when it’s carried me this far?”

Now aging is the least of her worries

Today, Cameron couldn’t care less about the signs of aging that are appearing as she is hitting 50. In fact, she admitted, “I can’t wait to be 50, it’s so great because you just know more.”

And her excitement is understandable, after all the star is now more than ever comfortable in her own skin and is ready to embrace this new milestone with open arms. She noted, “The last thing I think about on a daily basis, maybe not at all during the day, is what I look like.”

And while the anti-aging industry is now more than ever before booming with treatments and procedures to diminish the signs of aging, Cameron chose to take the opposite path.
She admitted “I literally do nothing. I never wash my face.” The actress added “I have a billion products that I never use. Twice a month If I’m lucky.”

The one thing that really matters

It seems that this stress-free attitude towards aging is the key to staying fresh and happy because the star is now glowing more than ever.
Moreover, at 47, the actress became a mother for the first time and now her main focus is to stay strong, fit, and healthy for her daughter. Diaz shared “I want to feel vital for my child. I want to be the mum that runs around.”

And by looking at how grounded and wise her approach to life is, it seems that Cameron is going to be doing exactly that for many long years to come.

What do you think of Cameron’s approach to aging? Do you agree that we should let things be instead of getting procedures to freeze the signs of time?
