Everyone who doubts if they should get a dog, should read this :)
Dog Owners Are Happier Than the Rest of the World, According to Science
There’s a reason why dogs are called “man’s best friend”. According to a survey, people who own dogs tend to be much happier in comparison to cat owners. But promoting good mental health isn’t the only benefit dogs can have on your life!
Bright Side studied the latest research about dogs and their influence on our lives and we’re ready to share the most unexpected results with you.
Owning a dog can really contribute to your level of happiness.
According to the survey conducted by the GSS, 36% of dog owners claimed that they’re “very happy” while only 18% of cat owners said the same. Surprisingly, people who owned both a cat and a dog also described themselves as less happy in comparison to solely dog owners. Dog owners also mentioned that they really enjoy spending time with their dogs and their companionship helps them get through tough times. So it’s like having one more family member!
But there still may be a connection to other factors.
However, the reason for such levels of happiness can be connected not only with owning a dog. The research showed that people who chose dogs were more likely to be easy-going and extroverted. So their personality could also be what affects their perception of the world and makes them more satisfied with life.
Dog owners are more active and sociable.
High levels of physical activity can also contribute to the feeling of happiness. The study found that dog owners, on average, walk more than 21 miles a week which is 7 miles more than people who don’t own a dog walk. Dog owners are also more likely to engage in outdoor physical activities and interact with other people during their walks which makes them feel more connected to the community. Sounds like a good bonus, right?
They’re more likely to have a family.
Dog owners are likely to get married and have a house. The study also showed that families with children choose dogs as their pet quite often. Being in a serious relationship and having close people to rely on make a person feel more secure in life which dramatically improves and affects a person’s well-being and phycological state. And owning a dog increases the number of positive emotions in everyday life.
Owning a dog decreases stress levels and contributes to longevity.
Thanks to social support and the increased level of physical activity, dog owners are less likely to die from cardiovascular disease. Dog owners claim to build a strong connection with their pets that provides additional emotional support and reduces stress levels. Besides, owning a dog is a great excuse to spend more time with family and make new friends which also improves mental and emotional health.

I'm a dog owner and I consider myself as a happy person. My life changed to the better since I got my little puppy :3
I'm a cat owner and I still think it doesn't matter what animal you have, all of our pets make us feel happy ?
That's exactly what I wanted to say! :)
I think we can separate just dons and say that other pet owner are more sad or something. After all, we create happiness ourselves!
Same here!!! Even I have a cat. I can cry to her or act stupid to her and she doesn’t judge me. I can talk to her whenever I feel low and she always talks to me back.
I guess this is the same with any other pet animal.
Of course we are happy! How can you be sad when a cute puppy runs to you and gives you its love? :3
then you are still a dog person, but just allergic ?
Get a cat :)
Simple!!!???
If you're allergic to dogs but really want one, you can do something about the allergy!!
