Here at Bright Side, we really loved to hear the celebrity’s words of wisdom, and some of her statements made us really optimistic about aging. Let’s see how she managed to deliver an important message to all of her followers and fans.
There’s a whole movement advocating the beauty of aging.
Jamie Lee Curtis is not only an actress, producer, and author. She’s also a well-known activist and member of a foundation called Radically Reframing Age. She’s a mentor and an active participant in the foundation’s summits, together with other celebrities, such as Goldie Hawn, Vanessa Williams, and Deepak Chopra. All of these stars are there to deliver a new view on aging and make people take a look at this inevitable process from a new, totally optimistic perspective.
Jamie Lee calls all people to never even use the harmful word “anti-aging.”
Jamie Lee’s speech for the Radically Reframing Age summit opened with a simple yet very meaningful request. She summoned people to take the word “anti-aging” out of their vocabulary.
“This word, ’anti-aging,’ has to be struck,” she said. “I am pro-aging. I want to age with intelligence, and grace, and dignity, and verve, and energy. I don’t want to hide from it.”
The actress has her own way of accepting her own body.
In her interview with Maria Shriver, a founder of Radically Reframing Age, Jamie Lee opened up about how she accepts her own body. Her secret is simple: not looking in the mirror all the time.
“I’m not denying what I look like, of course, I’ve seen what I look like,” she confessed. “I am trying to live in acceptance. If I look in the mirror, it’s harder for me to be in acceptance. I’m more critical. Whereas, if I just don’t look, I’m not so worried about it.”
Jamie Lee also shared her powerful thoughts about beauty.
In her powerful Instagram post, Jamie Lee expressed herself about beauty standards and real beauty.
She wrote: “In the world, there is an industry — a billion-dollar, trillion-dollar industry — about hiding things. Concealers. Body-shapers. Fillers. Procedures. Clothing. Hair accessories. Hair products. Everything to conceal the reality of who we are. And my instruction to everybody was: I want there to be no concealing of anything.”
