Restaurant Employees Admit Which Foods They’ll Never Order
Just imagine you're sitting at a table in a restaurant and you are really hungry. But you have no idea which food you're better off not ordering from the menu. Fortunately, thanks to the Internet, we can take a peek backstage to the world of cooking and find out which foods we should never order from restaurants.
- "Cocktails with fruit. The lemons, limes, oranges etc are almost never properly washed, they are handled with the waiters' bare hands literally 95% of the time." @bgar0312

- "Starbucks -- don't order something from the "secret menu". We don't know what a snickerdoodle frappuccino is, as it is not a menu item. Employees would be more than happy to make you a drink if you just explain the recipe rather than just the name of it. I'll result in diabetes in a cup if you don't just tell me what you want in there. Just don't get mad at me for not knowing a whole menu created by customers." @justine7179
- "Any cheese dip, no matter how fancy it sounds, is basically 95% butter and cream cheese - just enough actual cheese to make it taste like Asiago or whatever. Seriously, it is half a day's caloric intake in a small bowl." @Bradleyd00

- "I worked at a Japanese casual fast food restaurant and we had this thing called a Volcano roll. It cost $7.25. A California roll there cost $3.75. The Volcano roll was a Cali roll cut into the shape of a triangle and topped with spicy mayo that has been heated up with about 10 cents worth of fish, literally just a few bits. You are much better off ordering a Cali roll and paying $.50 extra for spicy mayo on the side and asking them to heat it up." @-eDgAR-
- "I worked at a sandwich shop for a while and ended up making the tuna salad a lot. When it was made right, it was thick, when it was made wrong it was soupy - 3 cups of mayo per giant can of tuna, along with celery and onions and a secret ingredient. There was a lot of mayo in it, sure, but what I'm trying to say it at least where I worked it was worth ordering unless some dumb made it." @7RoastBeefSandwiches
- "If you see something on the menu and can't find at least 1 or 2 other items that the ingredients could be used in, don't order it. For example, my restaurant has a pulled pork sandwich. We don't use the pork for anything else. Since it's not ordered too frequently, it's not fresh and the product you're eating might be days or weeks old. It's not going to get you sick, but it definitely won't be as fresh as the other things on the menu.". @anc6
- "When I worked there in Canada, McDonald's grilled chicken would sit there for a long time. So did the filet-o-fish." @CaseyTwist

"The point I'm trying to make is: it doesn't matter. Restaurants are generally very clean and safe, and your daily routine exposes you to far more risk than a lime that may not have been run under the tap before it was cut.
Your phone is riddled and covered with germs. You just kissed and traded saliva with your wife. You probably didn't wash your hands after visiting the bathroom or opening the door of the bathroom afterward, and now you're itching your eyes.
