I always stir my rice. Never had a problem with it getting starchy. I boil my rice without the lid. Once it's cooked (I taste test), I pour it into a colinder to drain & give it a quick wash to remove starch. Put enough water to cover bottom of put. Put colinder back in pot, put the lid on. Back on heated stove just enough to get water boiling. Then switch off. Perfect rice every time.
Just bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. The stir in rice and salt and return to a boil over medium-high heat.
Cover and cor for 16-18 minutes!
