In 2022, the global anti-aging market is expected to reach $67.1 billion. But a high price doesn’t always equate to better results. The reason is that anti-aging products like moisturizers, night creams, and foundations are cosmetics, not treatments. Additionally, their manufacturers are only advised, not required, to conduct specific tests on their products. That’s why it may be time to go back to natural ingredients and practices to rejuvenate our youth.

The Bright Side team went on a quest to find the most natural, accessible, and efficient recipes and practices that, with consistency, will make your skin firm and glowy without breaking the bank.

1. Eliminate gray hair with rosemary

If you’d like to keep gray hair at bay, rosemary is actually a natural remedy for slowing the aging process of hair. Spraying rosemary water over the hair will darken the hair and restore its natural color.

2. Switch to non-fat milk

Milk is one of the more controversial foods right now, but a recent study came to the rescue. It was found that adults who drank no milk aged quicker than those who consumed low-fat milk. Although more research is needed, this suggests drinking low or nonfat milk slows down biological aging, while abstaining from milk or consuming whole-fat milk speeds it up.

3. Experiment with intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting has been a popular practice for many years now. But recent studies that fall under the umbrella of longevity studies found that it has an anti-aging effect. As we age, our DNA degrades, which is what causes us to age. With fasting, DNA repair accelerates, which controls the aging process.

4. Sleep on your back

When many people try to start their anti-aging journey, they overlook their harmful habits during one-third of their day: sleep time. The position in which we sleep deeply affects our appearance, especially in the chest and face area. It may be worth it to train yourself to sleep on your back instead of on your stomach or side.

5. Double cleanse

Double cleansing is very self-explanatory, as it involves washing your face twice with 2 different cleansers. The first cleanser is usually an oil-based cleanser and the other is a water-based one. The rationale behind this method is that the first step would remove the makeup, sunscreen, and pollution, whereas the next one with rid your skin of grime and sweat.

6. DIY turmeric face mask

Studies have shown that turmeric can help with eliminating wrinkles as well as hyperpigmentation, which are major indicators of aging. To make a turmeric face mask, combine turmeric powder or extract with a thickening agent. You can customize the mask based on your preferences.

For instance, you can use water, aloe vera gel, or natural yogurt. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes. After the time is up, wash skin thoroughly with warm water and follow it up with toner, serum, and moisturizer as desired. Use this recipe up to 3 times per week.

7. Stop wrinkles with pomegranate essential oil

Pomegranate seed oil is an underrated anti-aging product. The reason it benefits the skin is largely due to the generous amount of antioxidants like vitamin A and vitamin C that it contains, as well as its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties.

To maximize the results, cleanse and tone your face and neck, and then dispense a quarter-size amount onto your hands. Then, pat and press until fully absorbed, or mist skin to speed absorption.
