These sponges are great. I haven’t used them for their conventional purpose but have instead made reusable alternatives to water balloons. I cut them into strips and tied them together in a star shape. My children soak them in water and throw them at each other. They are so much more environmentally friendly than traditional water balloons, and they work well. Plus, I can compost them when they eventually start to fall apart. The colors look nice too. They have already had a lot of use and are holding up well. When I finish my current washing-up sponges, I will definitely be getting some for use in the kitchen. There is the added bonus of how small a package they come in. A pack of 12 regular sponges from the supermarket takes up quite a lot of space on the shelves. For starters, the deciding factor for me to buy was their reply here on Amazon saying the dye is natural and non-toxic. I’ve been using cellulose sponges for a while, but I was always suspicious of the vibrant colors. Additionally, they are cheaper than other cellulose sponges I’ve bought before. Once they arrived, there was another obvious green aspect: the package was so tiny it fit through my letter box easily. Inside the carton, the sponges come inside a cornstarch liner. Now let’s put them to work. Soak it up. It’s instantaneous. The feel is a bit more plastic-y than other cellulose sponges I’m used to, but this actually makes it seem like it won’t rip as easily. It doesn’t produce as much foam, but we all know that’s unnecessary. It’s soft enough to clean corners from the get-go. So overall, I’m very happy I opted for Composty! — L Ihara
