From syringes to safety pins! Anything you have in the house that seems worthless can actually become a real treasure in seconds. All we need is a bit of imagination and the need. If you still suffer from a sliding zip locker or forget to take your pills, you’re in the right place.

Bright Side shares the wisdom of the resourceful people that will make you go, “And why haven’t I realized that before?”

1. Use a safety pin to hold the links in place while putting on a bracelet.

2. Use a fork to grate the last bits of food.

3. Whenever you reheat leftover pasta with a cream-based sauce, add a splash of extra cream/milk to keep the original consistency of the sauce.

4. When the kids are fully grown, this still has a purpose.

5. Use the front-facing camera on your phone to see into boxes on a high shelf.

6. Going for a run and don’t have pockets? Thread your key through your shoe lace and double knot it!

7. Rip up junk mail and send it back with the included business reply envelope. The business gets charged per returned mail piece.

8. “My zipper kept sliding down so I fixed it with a paper clip.”

9. “Always tried to find a way to use my laptop in the sun without it melting away. Just get cardboard from a shop.”

10. These are fake windows.

I wanted natural light in a basement that has no windows. Paid $10 for two old windows. Painted them, frosted the glass, installed them into my wall with 12″ LED flat panel lights behind them. Now it’s always 2 pm at the basement bar. © ZZbrew / Reddit

11. When you don’t want to buy a smaller pan for just one recipe:

12. Old fridge door shelves become new shed shelves.

13. Common runner’s trick: wear socks inside out to prevent blisters and chafing from seams.

14. Flip a Tupperware container upside down and use the lid as the bottom to take out cake easier.

15. Use your spring-loaded Salad Tongs to keep your reusable bags open as they dry.

16. My kids were always complaining about getting the heel of a bread loaf, so I started flipping it over and putting the end side down so they wouldn’t know.

17. Use a ladder when hauling tall plants.

18. When dispensing very thin liquid medications create a slit in the seal to prevent spillage and make dosages more accurate.

19. Keep at least one empty tissue box on hand. When you’re sick put your used tissues into it if you’re bed bound.

Do you have your own life hacks? Which ones do you think are the most helpful?
