The Big Bang Theory premiered in 2007 and ended in 2019, but the comedy is still relevant today because intelligence never goes out of style. One of the surprising details about the actors is that they really took seriously not only their profession in show business, but they also made a career out of it.

1. Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper)

After spending more than a decade giving life to the character of Sheldon Cooper, actor Jim Parsons decided that he would stop participating in the series after some emotional events that made him see that it was time to slow life down. His decision prompted show creator Chuck Lorre to bring the story to an end in season 12.

Parsons, after winning four Emmy Awards for his role in The Big Bang Theory, participated in the film The Boys in the Band (2020) and the series Special (2019-2021) in which he is listed as executive producer.

2. Kaley Cuoco (Penny)

Kaley Cuoco started on the show when she was 21. Her character, she commented, was the cute girl who lives next door to the nerds, who as time goes by grows up (just like her) and leaves behind the shorts to wear less tight clothes.

Since 2020, the American actress has starred in the series The Flight Attendant, in which she is also listed as executive producer and for which she has been nominated for her first Emmy. About this, she has said that even though she has been in the acting world for 30 years she has never had a moment like this and that it was really something she did not expect either.

3. Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler)

Mayim Bialik, as in the series, studied neuroscience. Her participation in the show began in 2010 after appearing in the last episode of the third season of the comedy series, a year in which she also launched her first book focused on the emotional changes of children and their relationship with their parents.

She can currently be seen as a guest host of the quiz show Jeopardy!. In this regard, she has said that she is extremely happy for the opportunity and considers it the most iconic role she has landed in her career.

4. Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter)

Johnny Galecki was another of the characters who took part of fiction to reality. In the early years of the series, he had a romance with Kaley Cuoco, although they later broke up but remained friends. After playing Leonard Hofstadter, actor Johnny Galecki began his facet as a father, after announcing in 2019 that he was expecting a child.

5. Melissa Rauch (Bernadette Rostenkowski)

Melissa Rauch, best known for playing Bernadette Rostenkowski, has developed in the world of show business as an actress, model, and comedian. Before landing her role on the series in the third season, Rauch was at the unemployment office until she finally got a call to audition for The Big Bang Theory.

After the series ended, she has stayed in the business: she stared and worked as an executive producer. She also launched a charity called Oscar’s Kids to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer.

6. Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz)

The character of Howard, played by comedian Simon Helberg, was, in the actor’s career, another of the nerds he was able to bring to life. Simon is also a talented pianist and, as he has even commented, he likes to play jazz. He was able to take advantage of these skills in Florence Foster Jenkins (2016), one of his works outside the series, where he acted alongside Meryl Streep.

He was recently part of the cast of Annette (2021), a French musical film. Interestingly, his participation in the project, in addition to requiring his talent, represented a challenge in which he even dared to lie about his nationality to get the role.

7. Kunal Nayyar (Raj Koothrappali)

Kunal Nayyar, who has Indian heritage, spent time studying at the University of Portland before launching his career in entertainment. He began acting in plays as a way to make new friends and eventually landed his breakthrough role on The Big Bang Theory (2007) a year after graduating.

After the series, he was able to enjoy anonymity and also appeared on television series. He is basically the antithesis of the astrophysicist he played since he likes to be fashionable and in real life, he is married to the former Miss India, Neha Kapur.

8. Kate Micucci (Lucy)

Kate Micucci has specialized studies in art and among many other things she has dedicated herself to painting and making puppets. Since 2008 she has also focused on building sandcastles. In addition to her profession as an actress, she can be found in the city playing the ukulele. Between 2019 and 2021 she has been the voice of Velma Dinkley in the movie Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?

9. Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom)

Kevin Sussman, throughout his artistic career, has developed as an actor, comedian, and writer. Interestingly, before landing his role as Stuart (the owner of a comic book store), in real life he worked in a comic book store. He is also remembered for his role in the sitcom Ugly Betty. In 2022, he will be part of the series The Dropout.

10. Sara Gilbert (Leslie Winkle)

Actress, writer and director, Sara Gilbert graduated from Yale University with honors in 1997, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in photography. From 2018 to 2021 she was part of the cast of the comedy series The Conners.

In the years since its final episode aired in 2019, the beloved sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans worldwide. The show not only brought laughter and entertainment but also introduced interesting facts for audiences to find out.
