Taylor was born in London, England, to art-dealing parents on February 27, 1932. Her family moved to Los Angeles, where a family friend suggested she attend a screen test. Taylor, who had a mother that worked as an actress before getting married, showed a natural talent for acting during the test.

At the young age of 3, Taylor began dancing and even performed a recital for royal siblings Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret. She went on to have a successful acting career that spanned over 60 years, including a memorable role in the 1966 movie Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Taylor was married 8 times to 7 different husbands.

Following 8 marriages, 2 of which were with the same man, Taylor eventually embraced the single life. In 2004, she publicly announced that she was content without a husband or lover, having learned to enjoy solitude. “I learned to be alone,” she revealed, indicating her newfound comfort with being on her own.

In April 2010, rumors began circulating that Taylor had found love again and was engaged to Hollywood agent Jason Winters. The 2 had been seeing each other for a while and were deeply in love. Despite the speculation, the couple kept their engagement a secret, leaving fans and media outlets to wonder about the details of their relationship.

Their love blooms with the help of none other than Michael Jackson. Taylor and Winters had initially met through the King of Pop.

Their friendship grew over time, and they even took a trip to Hawaii together in 2007. Taylor spoke fondly of Winters, referring to him as “one of the most wonderful men I have ever known.”

But despite the earlier rumors of an engagement, in March 2011, Taylor put the speculation to rest and publicly stated that she had no intention of getting married again. She made it clear that she had no plans to walk down the aisle with anyone, cementing her decision to remain single and independent.

She retired from acting due to health issues.

Tragically, Taylor passed away in 2011 at the age of 79. In the weeks leading up to her death, she was admitted to the hospital for 6 weeks due to complications related to congestive heart failure. She had been battling this condition since her diagnosis in 2004 and had been in and out of the hospital around ’a hundred’ times throughout her life.

In 2004, Taylor’s back pain intensified, and she could no longer stroll in her beloved garden. She relied heavily on a wheelchair for over 5 years after breaking her back multiple times. After retiring from her successful acting career, Taylor focused on humanitarian work and other creative endeavors. She was a devoted mother to her 4 children, Liza, Maria, Michael, and Christopher, and a proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Laela, Naomi, Quinn, Tarquin, Caleb, Rhys, Lowell, and Andrew.

In the months leading up to her passing, Taylor’s health continued to decline, and doctors worked tirelessly to manage her condition. She required assistance to move from her bed to a wheelchair, but her mind remained sharp despite her physical limitations. As her health worsened, Taylor’s family decided to hold her 79th birthday party a month early, in January 2011.

In March 2021, Taylor’s granddaughters, Laela and Naomi, spoke fondly of their beloved grandmother, remembering her as a fashion icon, businesswoman, and cherished grandparent. Naomi shared how she watched her grandmother transform into a Hollywood legend, inspiring the women in their family even a decade after her passing.

Naomi said, “Just because somebody is a superstar doesn’t also mean that they can’t be a loving, squishy, delicious grandma who was always welcoming us in.” Laela shared that her “loving” grandmother inspired her activism, business empire, and talent, while her teenage daughter also looked up to her great-grandmother.

Elizabeth Taylor, the iconic Hollywood legend, came close to marrying for the ninth time, showcasing her unwavering pursuit of love and the fascinating chapters of her life. While the ninth marriage remained elusive, her story is a testament to love’s enduring allure and the indomitable spirit of a life lived to its fullest.
