Lady Gaga Explains Why She Is Striving to Live “A Life of Solitude”
It may come as a surprise to some, given her distinct and attention-grabbing style, but Lady Gaga has expressed her desire for a life of solitude. As a celebrity of her caliber, this is an unexpected statement, and it appears that the multi-talented artist has a very different perspective on happiness in her personal life.
Although a renowned public figure, Lady Gaga prefers to limit her inner circle. The 13-time Grammy winner confessed that she relishes moments of isolation, values her own company, and has no intention of changing this preference. “I’m actually really interested in living more of a life of solitude,” the star revealed.
The Academy Award winner finds solitude intriguing and believes it is liberating. “It’s really nice to know that you’re enough. I wish I could tell my younger self that,” she admitted.
Lady Gaga revealed that she spent ample time by herself composing music in her youth. However, as her fame increased, she craved external validation. Nonetheless, the Oscar awardee emphasizes that her love for music has always centered around the art itself rather than the accolades.
She recalled reading Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet at 14, which profoundly impacted her. She got a quote from the book tattooed on her arm when she was 23.
The quote reads, “In the deepest hour of the night, ask yourself if you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. Look deep into your heart where the answer spreads its roots and ask yourself, Muss ich schreiben? [Must I write?]”
The star expressed that her passion for music is not dependent on her success or fame, and she would still pursue it if she were not as well-known.
“I know that because I actually don’t spend a lot of time in Hollywood. I might look like I do because sometimes award season happens, and you see me on red carpets. But I’m very much at home working. That’s the thing that really makes me happy,” the star revealed.
It’s not the first time the Born This Way hitmaker has talked about her thoughts on fame. She once addressed her audience during a live performance and mentioned how money, beauty, and her celebrity status had been put on a pedestal.
She highlighted that she has traveled the world and encountered the happiest individuals in the poorest places. She explained that their values remain uncorrupted. In contrast, she’s met the most disheartened and dejected people in some of the wealthiest homes.
Her album Joanne aimed to remind her fans and the world that love and kindness are essential things in life. She emphasized that happiness and harmony can be achieved through kindness, not celebrity or fame.
