10 Cheap Ways to Make Your Own Face Mask at Home

The average woman spends over $300 per month on beauty products and cosmetic procedures, according to research. That equates to approximately $3,700 a year and over $220,000 over the course of a lifetime, though a lot of objects of expenditure can be replaced with home procedures. At the very least, we all can make our own face masks with natural ingredients instead of buying them.

Here at Bright Side, we’re all for spending time at home usefully, so here are a few recipes that can compete with store-bought facial products.

1. Peppermint and orange peels for smoothness

Ingredients:

  • A few leaves of fresh mint
  • Orange peels
  • 1 tsp of honey

Method:

Mix it all together in a blender and apply gently to the skin. The mask is great at clearing pores and making skin soft and smooth. Mint is an antibacterial, it’s good for skin with acne, and it also reduces redness. Orange peels have a lot of vitamin C which can extract dirt from the pores and give the skin a healthy glow.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp organic raw honey
  • A splash of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp vegan milk

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl to make a thick liquid. Apply it to your face and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and apply moisturizer afterward.

3. Oatmeal and clay for moisturizing

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp clay
  • 1 tbsp mineral water
  • 1 tsp almond or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp oatmeal

Method:

Mix clay with oil and then put in oats. Add a bit of mineral water to create a thick liquid. Apply it to clean skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse it off and moisturize your skin with your favorite cream.

4. Cucumber mask to combat swelling

Ingredients:

Rub cucumber on a grater, add chopped aloe vera, and add olive oil. Spread it evenly with a brush on your face. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then remove it with warm water. Put the rest into a little container and keep it in the fridge.

5. Pore-tightening cornstarch mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tea bag
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 3 tsp cornstarch

Method:

Boil some water and add a tea bag to it. Combine the egg white with cornstarch and lemon juice until the mixture is even, then add the tea from the tea bag. Spread it onto your face and let it sit for 20 minutes. Remove it with warm water and apply moisturizer afterward.

6. Probiotic-rich coconut yogurt face mask

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp coconut yogurt
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

Method:

Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl until the mixture is creamy. Apply it to the skin in a thin layer and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse it with warm water and apply moisturizer.

7. Coffee mask to fight a puffy face

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ground coffee beans
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 3 tsp milk

Method:

Add coffee into a small bowl, then pour in milk and honey. Stir it until the mixture is creamy. Apply it to your skin in a thin layer and let it dry for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and apply moisturizer.

8. Banana face mask for calm skin

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp greek yogurt

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together until it’s well-combined, apply it to the skin and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse the face well with warm water.

9. Tomato mask for skin renewal

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • A splash of lemon juice

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together, apply it to the skin and gently massage in a circular motion for about 5 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and moisturize.

10. Papaya mask for brighter skin

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp papaya puree
  • A splash of lemon juice


Method:

Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl to make a thick liquid. Apply it to your face and leave it for 7-10 minutes, rinse with warm water, and apply moisturizer afterward. Natural acids in papaya gently exfoliate skin and help clean out pores. Though keep in mind, fresh citrus can be allergenic.
