13 Stories That Showcase How Unpredictable Life Can Be

month ago

Life can be even more unpredictable than the plot of a movie. Even situations as unpleasant as spending the night in a train station or a rocky divorce can lead to a happy ending with a fateful encounter.

  • A friend shared a flat with her neighbor for several years. In the end, he decided to buy her share of the apartment. The money for her share of the flat was in a safe deposit box in the bank. And the day before getting it, she sent me a message saying that she had appendicitis and was undergoing surgery.
She asked me to close the deal and make sure her neighbor didn’t take advantage. You can imagine the mood with which I greeted him at the bank. He still remembers my harsh demeanor. Oh, and we’ve been married for five years and have two children.
  • My mother’s grandmother went to the tram stop, approached a handsome boy, and asked him to fix a fence for money. The boy turned out to be very smart and immediately accepted the part-time job. Anyway, my mother came home from school, and there, on the fence, sat her future husband. © bladNorway / Twitter
  • An acquaintance of mine went through a difficult divorce. She was left without a flat and spent a year and a half in a terrible depression. Finally, she bought a flat on the ground floor.
After 2 years, her computer broke down, and she asked her neighbor on the 4th floor to come and take a look at it. They have been together ever since and can’t understand how they could ever live without each other. Now they eat on the ground floor and sleep on the 4th floor.
  • My parents met at a friend’s wedding. According to Mom, when the host announced a slow dance, 5 people ran towards her at once, but Dad was faster. Mom regretted that no one else more attractive had been faster than him, but she danced with him the whole evening. Dad forgot to ask for her phone and sat in the doorway all night.
In the morning, he walked her to the train station and again forgot to ask for her phone number. As the train was departing, she told him her number. He memorized it, called her, and three years later, they were married. © Pure_christal / Twitter
  • I met my husband when he was in the hospital. He worked there and I was a frequent patient. He knew I wasn’t interested in dating, so he became my friend.
He would bring me daffodils to the room or apple juice. He would leave me extra warm blankets, and sit with me before his shift started and after it ended. As a result, I found I liked him and, this year, we celebrated our 12th anniversary. © GypseboQ / Reddit
  • When I first moved to Japan, I found it difficult to understand the language. Once I was in a supermarket for about 15 minutes with my mobile phone in my hand, trying to find out which rice was pre-washed, so I wouldn’t spend extra time cooking, when suddenly a guy addressed me in my mother tongue and came to my rescue. We exchanged contacts, and have been dating ever since. © Bailey Elizabeth / Quora
  • An acquaintance of mine had a difficult divorce, she was thrown out of the house in the middle of the night with just her suitcase. She went to the train station to wait for daybreak and figure out what to do next. An ugly man approached her and invited her for a coffee, and she told him her sad story.
The man offered her to go with him to a neighboring town where he had urgent business to attend. She told him she would wait for him at the train station. She was going to leave but fell asleep because she was so tired. And he was very happy that she had waited for him. They have been married for many years.
  • I was working out at the gym and I overexerted myself. Suddenly, I got dizzy, and my eyes went white. I started to faint when a man grabbed me. He tried to help me stay awake by asking me questions that required concentration.
When he saw that I was okay, his questions began to resemble flirting: what’s my name, what’s my number, and would I allow him, as my knight in shining armor, to ask me out sometime. He made me laugh and got my number. © super-ro / Reddit
  • We met at a party, and when I was about to leave, he took me to the children’s room, where we had left our coats. And there he asked me: «What color would you like to write your phone number in?» I’ve been married to him for 20 years. © Constantlearner01 / Reddit
  • I met my future husband on the phone when an acquaintance of mine accidentally gave me the wrong number: she got one digit wrong. A couple of days later, I wrote to her and asked her what she was doing, to which she replied: «Fixing my car.»
I was delighted and wrote her back: «What an interesting hobby you have, girl.» And he replied: «Actually, I’m a man.» So we called each other, went on a date, and we’ve been together for 13 years. Our son is 11 years old.
  • We studied together and lived in the same dorm, but I never dared talk to her, since I thought she’d never go for a guy like me. I didn’t like any other girls, so I decided to focus on my studies. But then I saw her again and was amazed by her beauty.
It turned out that she was in my friend’s group. I plucked up my courage and asked my friend to tell her that I wanted to be her boyfriend. She didn’t accept but offered to be friends. And after a few dates, I managed to get out of the friend zone. Now I have a beautiful wife and three children. © Zlatan Hazizimovic / Quora
