15 People Who Ditched Their Bad Habits and Proved That Anything Is Possible

We all know that alcohol and drugs affect our health and psychological condition negatively. However, very often, this knowledge alone is not enough to fight those bad habits. The characters of our compilation today are not on the list of the weak — they managed to find the strength within themselves to change for the better and to chose life without addiction. Just look at how noticeable the changes in their appearance and mentality are!
Bright Side collected 15 photos of people who managed to say “No” to bad habits poisoning their lives. At the end of the article, there is a bonus showing that addictions can be different.
“It’s been a long road to recovery, in more ways than one. But! It’s been 4 years since I got clean from meth.”
“On the left photo, this is me in 1995. On the right — me in 2017. I overcame addiction, homelessness, and a history of incarceration. Been sober for 20 years already.”
“Today I am celebrating one year of being sober!”
“Today I am 3 years sober and I am very happy about it.”
That’s how significantly a person changed after one year without alcohol:
“8 months ago, I put down the vodka bottle and checked myself into rehab. 8.5 months sober now and 35 lb pounds lighter. I feel like myself again.”
“Left is me in the ICU from an overdose. Decided I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and am 6 months clean and sober today.”
“393 days without a drink and 2 weeks without a cigarette. By the way, I also lost 25 lb after I got sober.”
“One month sober from alcohol and drugs, lost 25 lb, and feeling much better now.”
“I have lost 70 lb within a year of being clean from drugs.”
“On the left, I had dropped down to 158 lb due to drug and alcohol addiction. Later, I entered a rehab facility, gave up my bad habits, and gained roughly 30 lb within 1-2 months.”
“Kicked depression and pill addiction to the curb. Also, I lost 70 lb.”
“The man in the left picture used to take different types of drugs daily. The man in the right picture has been clean for 3 years already. Yes, it’s the same person but it’s difficult to believe it now.”
“Here is what 826 days sober looks like. Recovery is possible!”
Bonus: there can be other types of addictions besides alcohol and drugs.
Ross Gardner used to have a food addiction. He was consuming 15,000 calories per day, which is 6 times more than what nutritionists recommend for the daily norm for a man of his height and weight. He used to wear a clothing size of XXXXL, weighed 392 lb and had to buy 2 seats if he was traveling by plane. After his doctor told him that Ross had only 3 years left to live because of his obesity, the man decided to change his life. His weight dropped down to 203 lb within 10 months and he reduced his daily calorie consumption to 2,500 per day. Now, Ross helps other people who want to change their lives and start it all over again.
