Just refuse to go to restaurants with her. Pick up take out, or eat at home, but be up front: "I can't afford an expensive restaurant this month. We can have dinner at home together, or you can go out to dinner by yourself, but we're not going to a restaurant with you."
I Taught My Sister-in-Law a Lesson Because She Refused to Pay for Her Meal

We all know someone who is a bit stingy, but what happens when that person is in our own family? Today we’ll look at the case of a woman who, tired of putting up with a sister-in-law who was always looking for ways to save some money at the expense of others, found a drastic solution to end the problem once and for all.
Last night, she had made a reservation at an extremely expensive restaurant, and before we left, I made it very clear that I would not be paying her bill this time. That’s where I may have overdone it, and I admit I saw that trick in an episode of Two and a Half Men.
As we were leaving, she and my husband went straight to the car. I pretended I’d forgotten something and went back inside. I found her wallet right on top of her suitcase. I put it in my purse, and we went to the restaurant.
By the way, my sister-in-law saw that I posted this story and was furious because I had made her look bad on the internet. Honestly, I don’t care. I hope that she’ll learn her lesson and see it as a wake-up call.
Having a partner who is obsessed with money can also be a challenge, as can dealing with people who can’t hide their greed.

Good on her. I more than likely would have paid my share and told her to gi and do the washing up in the restaurant kitchen. Mind you I would have also nipped this in the bud a lot earlier. I would say we're not going unless you pay your share. I'm not a charity. I would also say she was not brought up like this (unless her brother is the same). Actually I would like to know why hubby doesn't say anything! Still, good on you Girl!
Well done 👏 why should she dine out on you , your husband needs to grow a pair for not pulling her up straight away
Your husband needs to grow up and put his bratty entitled mooching sister in her place already. The fact that you were pushed to go to the extent of standing up to her with no support, moral, verbal of other, from your husband is ridiculous. Maybe the relationship with your sister in law, is not the one you need to look into, it might be your marriage that needs a good looking at. Not once in your entire story did he defend you or support and validate your feelings and concerns when it came to HIS sister.
i AGREE. this Gal should have to pay her own way, better yet cancel the Reservations for the expensive place and go to Mc Donalds ! tell her that this is all You can Afford if she is not willing to pay. regardless of how much she whines.. maybe next time ask her to stay at a motel and that you want her to Treat your family with Dinner out..Plus get hubby on your side instead of his sisters.
You are nicer then me. I would have had my husband pay for his sister. Its none of her business how much she makes. She should not be privy to that information. Good for you!
