There are people who seem to live in a soap opera or melodrama with elements of tragicomedy. In the life of these people, passions boil like a kettle on a stove, and events seem to become even more emotional every time.

  • A friend of mine started receiving beautiful and expensive bouquets from a stranger at work. She suspected the executive director of being in love with her. Another bouquet had a note saying, “Let’s meet in a café.”
The friend arrived, and there was their system administrator. She told him straight away that he doesn’t have a chance. And then this guy started yelling at my friend that she owed him a lot of money, which he spent on bouquets during this year. If she’d known the bouquets were from him, she would have never accepted them.
The guy even threatened to sue her. And then he just quit. © user7111980 / Pikabu
  • I divorced my wife. After the divorce, she stayed to live in my flat, which I had bought before our marriage. I tried to explain to her that she should leave, but she would not listen. Instead, she doesn’t go out, sits at home all day, works remotely.
She knows that if she leaves the flat, I will change the lock immediately, so she doesn’t go out. I don’t want to make a fuss, I want to solve everything peacefully. But she’s just as stubborn as a mule! I can’t even have a personal life, let alone bring someone into the flat while she’s stuck there. © Overheard / Ideer
  • My husband married another woman while being married to me. Everything for real: he was in a suit and tie, she was in a wedding gown with a veil. Outdoor ceremony, bride’s bouquet, exchange of rings. I was blown away!
I demanded explanations from my husband, and he said, “I met a woman, fell in love with her and finally learned what it’s like to be happy. I married you without love and because I was stupid, but this is different: we got married unofficially, without registration and guests, but everything else is real.”
I was so hurt that I put my daughter in the car and went to my mother’s place in a neighboring town, I didn’t answer the phone, I was crying the whole time. He came to pick us up, said that he was choosing his daughter, that he had broken up with that woman. We live like roommates now. I’ve never been able to forgive his betrayal.
A lot of people ask why I didn’t kick him out. I just can’t let my daughter share her father with anyone else. The idea that he might start another family makes me cringe. I gave him my youth and a daughter, I’m not going to let him go just like that. © Unknown author / Pikabu

  • A guy recently joined my department right out of college, with zero experience, but bold. And, most importantly, he makes up his lack of experience with zeal. He came up to me and said, “I can’t live on a regular designer’s rate, I need more.” And I gave him more work and more salary. He never makes the same mistake twice, he is a fast learner.
And there is his colleague, who has been working for us for 2 years, but how tired I am of double-checking after him! So, this second guy told me that I’m having an affair with the new guy, and that’s why I’m “promoting” him. I laughed and said that those who can’t work with their heads always accuse others of earning money with another place. © Olena / ADME
  • My sister was dumped by her boyfriend because she bought an expensive bicycle. With her own money. The thing is, the guy was earning a lot less than her.
Everything seemed fine, but he was offended by the fact that my sister could just spontaneously make an expensive purchase on her way home. How could she do that? Without saving on it? And it wouldn’t hurt her financial situation.
He yelled at her and left. My sister was upset, but after talking, we came to the conclusion that it’s fine. And the bike is cool. © Darknet Cryptocartographer / ADME
  • An old coworker of mine was at work, and someone called his house phone while he was away. His wife answered, and the voice on the other end said, “I don’t know how to tell you this, but your husband is cheating on you with me, we’re in a relationship.” And hangs up.
He comes home, she reams his butt, and starts talking about divorce. He sleeps in the garage for 2 months, then one day he’s away at work, and the phone rings at home. His wife picks up, the lady tells her, “I’m sorry about everything. I’ve broken it off with him, I had no idea you had young children. I feel disgusting. Please tell Steve not to contact me anymore.” His name is John. © PrestigiousWeakness2 / Reddit
  • My boyfriend said he wouldn’t come home tonight. I decided to use this time to pamper myself and have a delicious dinner. I ordered a sushi set, set the table.
Suddenly, my boyfriend comes home. He decided I was expecting a lover. He threw a tantrum, questioning me the whole evening trying to figure out who it was. He still won’t talk to me. And all I wanted was a nice meal alone. © Ward 6 / VK
  • Standing in the line to the mineral spring. Everyone came with their huge bottles — I’m standing with my 1.5 liter bottle, waiting for them to fill their tanks. In front of me is a young couple. The girl is lightly dressed, freezing. Her boyfriend says:
    — Go to the car, don’t stand here.
    — But what about you? — the girl replies, — Will you stand alone?
I, touched by their care for each other, say:
    — Don’t worry, I will stand with him!
    The girl, surprised:
    — Then I won’t leave all the more! © vasilisaPRO / Pikabu
  • Husband left on a business trip. Weekend, 8 a.m. We sleep with my daughter, suddenly a knock on the door. I look through the peephole and see my in-laws.
I put on a smile and open the door. They’re coming in. The mother-in-law stays near the threshold while the father-in-law without taking off his coat and shoes darts through the whole flat into the bedroom, where the daughter sleeps in my husband’s place.
Then he runs into the living room, then into the kitchen, looks into the bathroom and toilet, and there is no one there. I wanted to remind them about the pantry, but didn’t. Then they took off their coats and sat down at the table to drink tea, smiling as if nothing had happened.
The next morning at the same time, my husband’s brother came and check on me too, but not that brazenly, he stayed in the hall. I told my husband about it later, and he was shocked by the antics of his family. © Sunny Fluffy / ADME
  • At my daughter’s wedding, her mother-in-law got really weird. She decided to show everyone how she would be bossing around her daughter-in-law. She made comments about her all the time, so the guests even felt awkward. Then she intercepted the microphone from the presenter and said that now, according to ancient tradition, the daughter-in-law should bow at her feet. My daughter is sitting crimson, her husband is also red as a tomato.
I stand up and say, “That’s it, daughter, let’s go home. I didn’t raise you to see you bowing at someone’s feet.” The mother-in-law tried to joke, I took my daughter under her arm, and we went to the exit. Her husband jumped up and went out too. The guests started to get up, the mother-in-law yelled something.
We came home and celebrated with pizza. It’s been 6 months, my daughter is happily married, the son-in-law speaks with his mother only on the phone. She doesn’t consider herself guilty and on the contrary waits for apologies from me. © Overheard / Ideer
  • Had a call shortly after I got married. Someone called and left a sultry-voiced message on our machine calling me out by name and saying I should “call Jessica.” I got home from work and my very displeased wife was like, “Who is Jessica?” Meanwhile, I stand there being baffled, having no idea what is going on.
We called back the number together, and it turned out to be a (very persistent) debt collector trying to collect on some unpaid cable bills for someone with my exact name, but from several states away. © Front_Living1223 / Reddit
  • A friend of mine was driving one night and saw someone following her in a car. So, she drove straight to the police station.
It turned out that the woman who was following her thought that my friend was her husband’s mistress. That’s because they both had the same model of car. A very common one, by the way. © Interesting_Cat_7470 / Reddit
  • My ex-best friend used to steal my boyfriends, even though she has a husband. She would just come to my place, supposedly to visit me, and would work on my boyfriend. I often asked her not to do that, and she said, “You just can’t keep a man.” For about 2 years I put up with it.
About 6 months ago, I met a guy and fell in love with him. A friend asked me to come over for a visit. I didn’t refuse.
She came in a gorgeous dress. The guy, after meeting her, said he didn’t want to interfere, so he would go out for a couple of hours. She never came again. © Overheard / Ideer
  • One day I got a call from the kindergarten: it was nap time, and my daughter was crying, her baby tooth had fallen out halfway. I told the teacher to pull it out, she said “no way,” come and pick up the child and take her to the dentist. I took a day off from work and came.
The kindergarten is closed, the gates are locked, no one answers the door. So, I climbed over the fence in stiletto heels and a skirt. The fence is tall, wrought iron. I climbed up, sat on top of it, and then I see the guard and the head teacher. They looked at me like I was an alien.
I explained everything to them, they took me to my daughter. I pulled her tooth out with a tissue, gave her a kiss. Then the head teacher caught up with me and asked me to come out like normal people. © Venus1880 / Pikabu
  • When my grandparents were newlyweds, they were delivered a love letter addressed to “John Smith” (not my grandpa), and my grandma went on a rampage. That was, until, they learned that their neighbor was named John Smith too! © The_Mr_Yeah / Reddit
  • I’m at home. The intercom rings. There’s a delivery guy with a bouquet at my doorstep. The bouquet was without a card, but I did find out that it was from a coworker who had been hitting on me, and I’d said no. I told the courier I wouldn’t take the bouquet.
And then this coworker called me and was like, “Is it so hard to take the bouquet?” And I replied, “I don’t want to communicate with you, I won’t accept flowers from you. Have a nice day.”
The 40-year-old man turned to shouting, but I didn’t listen to him and hung up. He rang 2 more times in a row. I had to blacklist the uncomprehending admirer. © Uranocka / Pikabu
