20 Musicians Who Not Only Worked Together but Were Also in Love

year ago

Many people start out as friends or coworkers until the moment comes when they feel that there could be something more between them. On other occasions, people are already an item before they decide to create a band and be coworkers. The relationships might not always be successful, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that the professional union has to break.

The 2 Paramore musicians first met when they were 12 and 13 years old and started working together in 2007 when York joined the band. In 2017, Williams divorced her then-husband, and a year later, she and York sparked dating rumors. It took them a while, but in 2022 they decided to come forward with their relationship, announcing it to the world. They declined to make any further comments, but we’re glad they have found love in one another.

Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus were already married in 1971, a year before ABBA was officially born. And Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson were a couple, getting married years later in 1978. However, both couples broke up, with Fältskog and Ulvaeus separating in 1979 and Lyngstad and Andersson getting a divorce in 1981. 2 years later, in 1983, the foursome decided that it would be best for them to disband.

Fältskog and Björn also had 2 children together, so the strain between them was getting to be too much. However, in 2018, 35 years after their breakup, the band came together to record a few new songs. They even released an album and performed live in London in front of their excited fans.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono first met in 1966 when Ono had never heard of him but only of his Beatles bandmate, Ringo Starr. They were both married at that time, but started having an affair before eventually breaking up with their respective partners. After getting in the studio together for Lennon’s songs, they decided to form their very own band, Plastic Ono Band.

The band continued to release music until 1973, long after Lennon had departed from The Beatles, and soon after, he and Ono broke up. In 2009, Ono revived the band by releasing an EP and, later on, an album.

The pair met when they were in college, where they formed a band called Buckingham-Nicks. Later on, they went on to be integral parts of Fleetwood Mac, a band that will forever be one of the best that ever existed. They broke up in 1977 while the band was still on top, but they continued working together and even wrote songs about their feelings. They both exited the band in the late 1980s and released solo projects.

In 2018, the band reunited and was about to go on tour when Buckingham asked to delay the dates in order to promote his solo work. Nicks didn’t want to change the dates, and he was let go from the band for good.

The White Stripes — Meg and Jack White

Jack and Meg are the duo behind the band, The White Stripes, which became super successful in the 2000s. From the moment the band became successful, everyone thought that the 2 of them were siblings, something that they never denied. As it turns out, they used to be married but divorced in 2000 before the band took off. In fact, they got married in 1996, a year before they decided to form a band together.

The Fugees — Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill

The Fugees is an acclaimed hip-hop band from the 1990s that was founded by Wyclef Jean. The other 2 members of the band are Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel. As Jean revealed in his autobiography, he and Hill had a brief affair when he was still married to his then-wife. However, the relationship didn’t last long and the duo thought it would be better to focus on their professional work.

Junior M.A.F.I.A. is a hip-hop group that was first formed in 1994, and 2 of its members were The Notorious B.I.G. and Lil’ Kim. While their relationship started professionally, the 2 of them started dating soon after. Biggie was married to Faith Evans at the time, and Lil’ Kim knew that their relationship had to be a secret. She said, “He became my friend, my lover, my everything. I was his biggest fan.”

It’s no secret that the 2 musicians were a couple from 1987 to 1994 while also being bandmates in No Doubt. Gwen Stefani has said that while being a couple with Tony Kanal, she cared more about their relationship than her music career. After they broke up, there was a lot of tension that almost destroyed their band, but they managed to pull through. Not only that, but they went on to have great careers and kept performing until 2015.
