A Teen Mom Has 3 Kids From Different Fathers, “They Are My Biggest Blessings”

At 18, Joyce faced a whirlwind of uncertainties and questions during her first pregnancy. “How could I manage milk powder and school fees? How could I party like other 18-year-olds? What would people think?” Now, with two more kids, she feels like a superwoman.

As a polytechnic student, Joyce realized she was still a child when she found out she was pregnant. Now, at 30, she’s a mother of three, each with a different father. Despite the challenges of parenthood, her children have taught her confidence and the constant pursuit of self-improvement. She no longer worries about others’ opinions; she’s too busy being a “superwoman” to her three little ones.

Reflecting on the past, Joyce remembers hearing her eldest son Caden’s heartbeat through an ultrasound. It was a moment that solidified her decision not to consider abortion, even when her ex-boyfriend suggested it.

As a first-time teen mom, Joyce grappled with dilemmas about balancing work, time, and finances with no husband for support. She felt like a burden to friends during gatherings, constantly asking if they could come over instead.

Joyce acknowledges that society often marginalizes single teen moms, making them feel unwanted by men. She fell into a toxic relationship with her first ex-husband, hoping a child would save the marriage. However, she eventually left when he threatened her and her child.

Years later, she met her current husband and had her third child, Alessa. Joyce embraces the uniqueness of each marriage and the lessons learned along the way.

Her eldest son, Caden, didn’t meet his biological father until much later, and Joyce wanted to ensure he didn’t “claim” him. She hopes to explain their fathers to her children when they’re ready, emphasizing that their parents’ mistakes do not define them. “In fact, they are my biggest blessings,” she says.

Over the years, Joyce has learned that it’s impossible to please everyone in motherhood. She advises other mothers to trust their instincts instead of heeding every piece of advice. Motherhood has transformed her, teaching her self-love, confidence, and the desire for personal growth.
