After an 18-Hour Delay a Man Was Excited to Be the Only Passenger on the Plane

Many of you must have been through the ordeal of a cancelled or delayed flight, and it is one of the most frustrating things that can happen. In most cases, passengers are usually transferred to other flights or make new bookings or receive refunds. However, this is not what happened in the case of Phil Stringer, who was flying from Greensboro to Charlotte. He was the only person from the delayed flight who stayed put and didn’t opt to choose a different flight back home.

His flight was delayed for 17 hours and 52 minutes.

On the day of the man’s flight, there were a series of issues including a heavy storm that didn’t allow the airplane to take off. That’s why the airline announced that there would be a delay, without knowing exactly for how long. All the other passengers either left the airport and gave up on the idea of even flying out that day, or they booked different flights. It was only Stringer who stayed at the airport and waited until the flight would be able to leave.

Stringer and the flight crew were excited for this VIP experience.

Stringer said that the flight attendants had gone to their hotel, adding “They had to get called; they were at their hotel, like they were going to go to bed. I felt so badly because I was like, oh my gosh, they literally had to come here for me.” Even though their sleep was disrupted, the entire crew made sure to make the best out of this situation.

A flight attendant even joked with him when he pointed the camera away from the pre-flight safety check, telling him, “You’re not paying attention?” Stringer believes that it was everyone’s positive attitude that made this whole experience pleasant.

Stringer even joked with the man who was responsible to load the bags on the airplane asking him “How many bags did you have to load, bro?” In his social media video, he joked that he had booked the entire airplane to himself, so he wouldn’t have to deal with people. Even the flight attendants seemed to enjoy the whole situation, with them cheering on each other while they were making the announcements.

When he landed, another surprise was waiting for him.

Even though he only had one bag with him, the airport actually lost it for about 45 minutes from the moment he landed. “My bag actually did get misplaced for about 45 minutes in Charlotte. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ We lost the one bag that we had on the plane.”

No matter the difficulties and unpleasant situation, Stringer had a good time and he will never forget this experience. “We joked, we laughed, we cut up. I exchanged phone numbers with them, like we’re still literally texting today and group messaging.”

Flights can sometimes be the funniest places to be, since people do their best to make their luggage lighter. Even if it means that they have to wear 13 pounds of clothes on them.
