Miracle and Charles may have a 61-year age gap, but this couple refuses to be defined by the decades that separate them. The newlyweds have even committed to starting a family, which may surprise many, given that Charles is 13 years older than his wife’s grandfather. Yet their love proves that nothing can stop the connection between two soulmates.

How they met

Miracle Pogue, aged 24, and Charles Pogue, who is 85 years old, crossed paths while she was working at a laundromat in 2019, and they promptly formed a close bond.

Miracle shared how Charles, a retired real estate agent, would visit the laundromat with just one piece of clothing, always requesting her assistance. She reminisced, ’"One day, he strolled in, casually put a piece of paper on the counter, and said, ’Write down your number.’ He was like my knight in shining armor.’’

They refused to let age become an obstacle.

Miracle knew Charles was older, but the exact age remained a mystery. For her, what mattered most was the positive energy he radiated and how comfortable he made her feel.

After two months, the young woman finally learned about Charles’s age, and her feelings for him had grown by this point. She affectionately said, “He was my baby, and he wasn’t going anywhere.”

She further explains that her husband’s age is not a concern for her. Miracle emphasizes, “I don’t care if he’s 100 or 55, I like him for him. I thought he was maybe 60 or 70 because he looks so good. He’s always up and active.”

Not everybody approved of their relationship at first.

Miracle said that her mother, Tamika, 45, and her grandfather, Joe, 72, fully supported their relationship from the beginning, recognizing the happiness Charles brought into her life. In contrast, her father, Kareem, 47, was initially more resistant.

She recounted, “My grandad told me that if I’m happy and it’s what I want, then he’s happy too. But my dad’s response was a firm ’No.’” However, her father eventually came around; otherwise, he would’ve “lost his daughter.”

Miracle added, “I told him I needed his support and to walk me down the aisle. Once he met Charles and conversed with him, he genuinely grew to love him.” Ultimately, the young bride’s dream of a perfect wedding became a reality, and she described it as the “best day” of her life.

They want to start a family.

The couple faces online criticism for their significant age gap, but Miracle said it won’t make a difference. She even revealed that they eagerly look forward to starting a family together, and she hopes to have two children with Charles, who doesn’t have any kids.

“I want him to have another generation. We’re planning to visit an IVF clinic to discuss our options,” she noted.

Their IVF journey isn’t without challenges, and Miracle admitted that her clinic experience was “quite overwhelming.”

However, she remains hopeful and optimistic. “Now I’m forgetting it as long as they give me my baby. Maybe Charles’s age will stop us from having children, but I have an open mind. It may not work.”
