This is how I've always wanted to live my life, I have known for decades that I don't want kids and I would only be with someone if we truly get along and enjoy each others company.
Otherwise I would rather live my live mostly alone.
“That Doesn’t Sound Fun to Me,” Seth Rogen Opens Up About Not Wanting Children
Seth Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, have been married for over a decade now. However, unlike most married couples, they decided to lead a child-free life. Throughout the years, both of them worked hard on their careers and used their free time to enjoy each other’s company. And they didn’t want to change anything about it.
Child-free or not, we at Bright Side believe that everyone has the right to tailor their perfect life. And this story might encourage you to embrace it without hesitation. Plus, there’s also a bonus waiting for you at the end of the article.
Seth Rogen believes there isn’t a child who would give him and his wife as much joy as they get from each other.
Seth and his wife are satisfied with the child-free life they’re currently living. As Seth said, he and Lauren can sleep in on Saturday mornings, lay in bed, and watch TV, which they wouldn’t be able to do if they had kids.
He has time for his professional life and hobbies because of his choice.
At first, Seth was uncomfortable sharing his decision with other people, but now when he’s asked about how he manages to find time for everything, he answers without hesitation, “It’s that I don’t have kids. I have nothing else to do.”
Giving into parenting and prioritizing kids doesn’t sound fun to him.
Seth claimed that he didn’t want that, and having children was confusing to him, as there are already enough kids out there. With a laugh, he added, “Who looks at the planet right now and thinks, ’You know what we need right now? More people.’”
Regarding Lauren’s decision, Seth revealed that she didn’t want kids, even more so than him. And in the interview, he admitted that maybe he could be talked into it, but not his wife.
Seth and his wife believe kids can be hard on a relationship.
After watching their friends, Lauren and Seth realized that kids can change relationships. And even though they’re convinced that they’d be able to overcome all the hardships that come with it, they very much like their lives as they are. They have a dog that they love together, and so far, they don’t want to change anything about their relationship.
Bonus: Here’s what people think of Seth and Lauren’s decision.
- “Good for them. Not everyone is meant to have kids. It takes a lot of patience!” — Kristen Brandt Stegeman
- “Love my kids but if I could go back I absolutely would not have kids.” — Heather Charnock
- “I used to think and feel the same way until I had a kid. It’s refreshing to have a purpose in life other than myself. But the timing needs to be right. I hustled early and waited until later.” — JJ Jackson
