It’s been 24 years since The Mummy (1999) premiered. The action-adventure film, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, was a commercial hit back then and has already spawned 2 direct sequels. However, fans can’t get enough of the franchise, partially because of its stars’ charisma, and they aren’t shy about asking for more.

Brendan Fraser was asked about coming back for another sequel.

In a recent interview, Fraser showed that he’s ready to take on the role of Rick O’Connell once more. Although he made it clear that he doesn’t know whether anything is in the works, the actor was quick to say he’d be up for the job. Jokingly, he said, “I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up.”

But this isn’t the first time Fraser revealed that he’d gladly return to the franchise.

In 2019, when faced with the same question, the beloved actor had a similar reaction: “Absolutely!”

But Fraser then recognized how challenging it would be to create a new installment, explaining, “I know how hard it is to make that movie.” He added, “I tried to do it 3 times, and the essential ingredient is fun. You gotta remember to have fun. So if there’s a fun way to approach it again, I’m all in.”

The actor is currently enjoying the award buzz over his new film.

After a few years away from the spotlight due to personal issues, Fraser is excited about how well his performance in The Whale (2022) has been received by everyone. In the drama, Fraser portrays Charlie, an obese and solitary English professor, and the role is putting the actor on the right path to being nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars.

What would your reaction be if a new The Mummy movie was announced? Have you been following Brendan Fraser’s career?
