Beauty standards and trends have finally become more inclusive, with more natural shades of makeup and bras that are available in a bigger number of custom sizes. And women are also giving themselves more leeway in the area of personal grooming. Today’s featured heroine, Sophia Hadjipanteli, may not look like the type of cover girl you are used to seeing, but why should she? She has appeared in some of the biggest magazines on the planet while sporting a unibrow, and has become an unapologetic advocate for natural beauty.

Here at Bright Side, we found Sophia’s example absolutely inspiring, and we’d love for you to get to know her and her philosophy more.

Self-love has been embedded in the girl’s mind since childhood.

While being asked in an interview about women that inspired her with such unconditional self-love, Sophia didn’t think even for a second before mentioning her mom. She says that her mother literally became the epitome of inspiration for her. She was the person who accepted Sophia at every single period in her life and motivated her to always think outside the box.

Sophia’s mother also instilled the right attitude toward being different and unique in her daughter. Now Sophia is a grown-up girl who is motivated by herself and inspired by all things that people do not normally see in everyday life.

Sophia had to overcome the judgment of others even after becoming famous.

As a teen, Sophia was not accepted in high school. After going public with her looks, she also had to go through a lot of negativity that was thrown at her online. But it didn’t shake her self-worth — on the contrary, made her believe in her uniqueness even more and love herself even more deeply. In an interview, she said, “It’s especially satisfying to know that that big unibrow is on the cover of Glamour UK, and it looks great.”

Sophia seems to be totally in love with her looks and keeps encouraging other people to appreciate their natural beauty as well.

She says, “If I want to be out there and really expressive and be myself, I get to wear whatever I want, and I get to embrace the unibrow — and if I don’t, I can always tone it down. But it’s always my decision — and I think that’s why a lot of people follow me because I’m just myself, and I’m not really influenced by what everybody else is telling me to do.”

The model has started a whole movement, and it’s like a breath of fresh air for people.

Sophia has gone even further in promoting natural beauty ideals. She created the Unibrow Movement, which has quickly formed a community of people who are on a similar wavelength as Sophia. People can now discover like-minded strangers via the hashtag of the name of the movement on Instagram.

Sophia wants to show people they can be whoever they want, look however they want, and love whoever they want without being constantly afraid of rejection. She doesn’t care if it’s a big or small amount of support from strangers online — she knows that even one positive comment can make a person believe in themselves.

The model has a special message for all of her fans and naysayers.

Sophia turns to people who find it hard to believe in the beauty of their own bodies. She prepares them for the thought that loving yourself won’t happen immediately and that it’s really hard work, but it’s totally worth it.

She says, “It is a process. Not everyone feels 100% every single day, and that is totally okay. It starts inside, though! You could be the most ’perfect’ person in the world, but if you don’t see it with your own eyes, you’ll never feel that love for yourself. It takes time to build that relationship with yourself, but once you do, everything just feels so much better. You feel free.

What is your attitude toward your body hair? Do you have any razor-free experiences to speak of? How was it?
