Megan Weber Nettles is a true inspiration. A self-described “wife to the coolest human” and a “homeschool mum” of seven children. She is dedicated to changing the world by raising them in the most loving and nurturing way. If everyone committed to at least one act of kindness every single day, can you imagine how much better our world would become? Megan is living proof of that.

Being a parent isn’t the easiest task and is quite a commitment. That’s why we at Bright Side absolutely loved Megan’s story and cannot wait to share it with you all.

Megan’s family looks like something out of a fairy-tale.

Times are changing at the speed of light and having a large family nowadays is not as common as it used to be even half a century ago. In fact, it is probably not for everyone anyway. Neither is adoption, yet Megan and her husband Clay, despite having a lot of children already, decided to adopt a few more. Unfortunately, life is not a bed of roses and her fairy-tale life hasn’t always been this rosy either.

Megan and her husband are a happy picture-perfect couple.

She and her husband met when they both were university students in Florida. At the time, they had to work several jobs just to make ends meet. They realized it wasn’t sustainable for a young couple to even dream about having a large family on the income that they had at the time. Eventually, they moved two hours up north, where Clay’s father owned a small business, which was the best decision they could ever make.

She went through a lot of pain to get where she is today.

At the beginning, Megan went through several painful miscarriages. After that, she tried to get pregnant again but with no results, which is always devastating for any woman who wants a child. Megan was relentlessly persistent to get what she had always wanted: a large family. Before she was finally able to give birth, she had adopted a child, which was like a blessing from above.

Dreams came true for Megan.

Both young parents were over the moon and it was the beginning of something truly beautiful. Now they have seven children, two of them are adopted. According to Megan, “There is no difference between your adopted children and your biological children. <...> We love every last bit of every last one of them. We work really hard at letting each of them be exactly who they are.”

Although she had been through a lot of distress and suffering, now her dream has finally come true. It is difficult not to notice how happy Megan and her family are. They always seem to be doing something: From exploring nature to having family gatherings like in the photo above where they celebrate Father’s Day.

She also went abroad to fulfill another important mission.

Apart from her full-time job as a mother, Megan actively participates in humanitarian work. As someone who has been trained as a paediatric nurse, she went on a trip to Haiti in October 2021, where she will be doing teacher training. According to Megan, this whole experience of being in a beautiful but harsh country is very humbling. So far, she has helped develop the school curriculum as well as been teaching children about art.

Megan’s advice to all the ladies out there.

Today Megan urges women to find “a man that will grow a family with you.” More importantly, she also encourages them to pursue their passions. “I love that we both are a little crazy and don’t want to live the status quo,” she said about her husband in her recent post on Instagram. Megan believes in making our world a better place and her story is a great reminder to us all to count our blessings and persevere in the face of adversity.

We have a question for you: How many children do you have? Let us know — we’d love to read your stories in the comments.
