Believe it or not, there are celebrities that are still waiting for their dream jobs on the silver screen. They are eager to challenge themselves and have always wanted to play a character that they’re passionate about. These are the people who prove that one should never rest on their laurels.
Bright Side did some digging and found out that even while these stars seem to be shining brighter than ever, there is still that one role that could take their journey to the next level.
1. Keanu Reeves as Batman
In an interview, Keanu Reeves shared that playing Batman has always been his dream. He went on to commend Robert Pattinson’s recent portrayal of the caped crusader, saying he’s doing a great job at the role. He’s still hopeful, however, that he can play an older version of Batman in the future.
2. Drew Barrymore in a movie with Adam Sandler when they’re old
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler have been in several successful romcoms together and for Drew, there’s still room for another. During a Q&A session on her show, Drew revealed that she’d like to make a film with Adam Sandler once they’ve grown old. She shared how she and Adam both love lakes and about how they have talked about doing a movie about growing old together on a lake.
3. Dwayne Johnson as King Kamehameha
Dwayne Johnson has always dreamed of playing the Hawaiian King Kamehameha since the day he started in Hollywood in 2001. In 2018, Dwayne, who is part-Samoan, announced that he was cast to play the legendary king for a movie.
4. Constance Wu as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors
The Crazy Rich Asians star shared that her dream role would be Audrey from the musical Little Shop of Horrors. Growing up, she was very fond of theater and Chekhov, which influenced her love for musicals.
5. Christopher Lee as Gandalf the Grey
In an interview, the Director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson, recounted the story of how Christopher Lee initially wanted and auditioned for the role of Gandalf the Gray, which was played by Ian McKellen. However, Peter decided that Christopher would be perfect to play Saruman instead and offered the role to him.
6. Nina Dobrev as Lara Croft
Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev wants to do a little bit of everything when it comes to characters to play, and that includes Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft. She also shared that she wants to do a Bond film.
7. Lea Michele as Fanny in Funny Girl
Lea Michele expressed her delight when she was cast in her dream role as Fanny Brice in the Broadway musical Funny Girl. The role was first played by Barbra Streisand, both in the theater and in the 1968 film adaptation.
8. Chris Evans as Orin Scrivello in Little Shop of Horrors
A musical is something that Chris Evans has wanted to do his whole career. In fact, he used to perform in theaters as a kid and felt that the stage always felt like home. And his dream role? Little Shop of Horrors’ Orin Scrivello, a role originally played by Steve Martin in the 1986 film.
9. Vanessa Hudgens as Catwoman
It all started when fans took to social media to pitch that High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens would be the perfect Catwoman for a new Batman movie. Vanessa then responded to some fan art on her Instagram story declaring that she was interested in donning the catsuit, while adding the hashtag #dreamrole.
10. Jason Momoa as The Crow’s Eric Draven
Jason Momoa waited 8 years to breathe new life into The Crow’s Eric Draven only for the movie to be grounded. In an Instagram post, Jason expressed his sadness saying that the film “needs to be set free.”
