11 Stories About People That Turn All Stereotypes Upside Down in Seconds

Very often, we expect something bad to happen at any time. If you’re stopped by a police officer, it’s because you’re getting a fine. If you’re going to visit a dentist, it’s going to be painful. But sometimes, other people may surprise you in positive ways.

We at Bright Side think that we shouldn’t believe in bad stereotypes. And that’s why we absolutely love hearing stories about people being pleasantly surprised by others.

  • I was withdrawing money in a bank and at that moment, I was called. I instantly forgot everything because the conversation was important. I took my card but left the money in the ATM. I realized it only 5 minutes later and I remembered that there was someone else next to the ATM. I thought my money was gone. I came back and described the situation to the employee. She understood who I was and told me that the guy that I remembered being there saw this happen and gave the money to the bank in case I’d return. • A friend (who must’ve been in his own world) walked away from a cashpoint, leaving his money hanging out of the machine. The next user was a kid, about 16. My friend was halfway across the street when the kid ran up to him and handed over his missing cash! © blueskybel / Reddit
  • A stranger texted me and asked me if I wanted to talk. I replied, “I’m not interested.” And then he said, “What are you interested in?” So for 2 hours, I’ve been sitting and thinking about what I’m interested in and what I should do with my life. © kostenko_rita / twitter

  • I had a BMW. I was pregnant and I was coming back from the doctor and someone parked next to my car so I couldn’t drive. The only thing I could do was ask someone to get in through the passenger seat because since I was pregnant, I couldn’t get through. © Podshlushano / Ideer

  • I got into a taxi and the driver said, “Miss, you smell so good! You smell like skin!” What? What did he say? Skin? I went online to read about my perfume: tangerine, flowers, wood, and skin. And I was really surprised. But only then I thought, "Why am I still reading about the perfume and why didn’t I leave the car if I thought the driver could be dangerous? © #462181 / bash.im

  • I have horrible fear and anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist, and for a long time, I’d summon up the courage to make an appointment only to chicken out and cancel the day before. Well, after a couple of years of avoiding it, I finally went in and upon coming back for the actual procedure, the dental aide surprised me with a gift basket, hugged me, and also gave me a handwritten letter that said how proud she was of me for coming back. It made me cry, honestly. I didn’t know her that well and was touched that she cared so much. © MissMasamune / Reddit

  • Some people say that money changes people but I know it’s not true for everyone. A friend of mine had an average income for a long time. A year ago, he took a risk and invested all his money into a business. It worked out and he reinvested what he earned and now he has a chain of stores and he’s quite successful. Many of his relatives were worried that the money would change him. But yesterday, I saw him volunteering at a charity organization for homeless people. © Palata 6 / vk
  • I’m a single girl. I was walking in town after work and I was a bit sad. I went into a flower boutique and bought a small bouquet. The employee said something nice about me and paid for the bouquet. He didn’t ask for my phone number or for my Instagram page. He just did something nice and it put me in a great mood for several days to come. © Palata 6 / vk
  • On a hot summer night when all the windows were open, I woke up because a couple was arguing outside. They were very rude. The problem was that the girl had been flirting with someone and the guy wasn’t happy about it. And then the girl just said, “I was flirting to make you feel jealous!”

  • Don’t make judgments based on appearances. I live in a small town. A guy comes into our store. He was dressed in dirty pants and a down jacket. He smelled terrible. He went straight to the TVs, pointed at the biggest one that was really expensive, and said, “I’m taking this one!” Or another time, there was a lady that didn’t look very fancy but said, “We need 30 fridges, 25 washing machines, and 50 TVs.” © BirdEyebrows / Pikabu

  • I went on a date with a guy: he was really big with muscles and a beard. A classic guy, I thought. We were walking in a park and then we saw a kitten. The guy forgot about me completely, went to buy some cat food. Then he started calling all of his friends to try and find the kitten a home. He ended up taking it himself. It turned out he was a big cat fan. He had 7 of them at home.
